\nUltimate Fighting Championship<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Guskov (18-3) is scheduled to fight Ankalaev (20-2) in the main
\nevent of
\nUFC Abu Dhabi<\/a> on July 25 at Etihad Arena on Yas Island. Guskov
\nstepped up to accept the fight on 14 days\u2019 notice after Ankalaev\u2019s
\noriginal opponent, Khalil
\nRountree<\/a>, pulled out due to an injury.<\/p>\n

If he comes out on top, Guskov is eyeing championship gold.<\/p>\n

Guskov breaks down Ankalaev\u2019s standing after Alex Pereira
\nrematch loss<\/h2>\n

Despite Ankalaev not being the current champion, Guskov still
\nconsiders the Russian the best 205-pounder. The surging Uzbek
\ncontender believes Ankalaev just had a \u201cbad night at the office\u201d in
\nhis rematch against Alex
\nPereira<\/a>, in which he lost the title. As such, a win over the
\nformer champion warrants a title shot, according to the
\n33-year-old. \u201cFor me, Magomed is the strongest guy in our division,\u201d Guskov told
\nMMA Junkie. \u201cSecond fight with Pereira is just one fight, bad day
\nin the office. And Magomed is still a dangerous and stronger guy in
\nour division\u2026 For me, the next fight is a title shot. We try to
\ntake gold in the UFC.\u201d<\/p>\n

Ankalaev was undefeated in 14 straight outings since 2018 before
\nhis loss to Pereira. Meanwhile, Guskov was on a four-fight
\nfinishing streak before fighting former champ Jan
\nBlachowicz<\/a> to a draw in his last outing. He has finished all 18
\nof his career wins so far.<\/p>\n

The belt is currently held by Carlos
\nUlberg<\/a>, who suffered an injury in his title-winning effort
\nearlier this year. UFC CEO Dana
\nWhite<\/a> has since revealed that an interim title bout is likely
\nnext in the light heavyweight division as Ulberg recovers.<\/p>\n
