The reigning
\nUltimate Fighting Championship<\/a> light heavyweight titleholder
\nprovided an update on his recovery from an ACL injury following
\n
\nUFC Abu Dhabi<\/a>, revealing that he is targeting an early 2027
\nreturn to action.<\/p>\n

Carlos Ulberg discusses ACL recovery and UFC light heavyweight
\ntitle plans<\/h2>\n

Ulberg suffered the injury in his title-winning knockout victory
\nover Jiri
\nProchazka<\/a> earlier this year. He recently emphasized that he
\ndoes not want to risk any further injury and hence plans to take
\nhis time. In a recent interview with UFC’s Charly Arnolt, \u201cBlack
\nJag\u201d gave an update on his injury.<\/p>\n

\u201cI\u2019m just making sure I do everything I need to keep on task with
\nmy injury, but then also just been working closely with the UFC PI
\nand make sure I can get back in there as quickly as possible, but
\nalso as safely as possible,\u201d Ulberg said. \u201cWe\u2019re looking at early
\nnext year, so 2027 if we\u2019re being smart, so we don\u2019t come in too
\nearly and re-injure ourselves.\u201d<\/p>\n

Ulberg was in attendance at Etihad Arena in Abu Dhabi and saw
\nformer champion Magomed
\nAnkalaev<\/a> return to the win column, defeating Bogdan
\nGuskov<\/a> in the main event. During the same interview, the Kiwi
\nchampion also commented on Ankalaev\u2019s win.<\/p>\n

\u201cCongrats to Ankalaev,\u201d he added. \u201cI saw what I needed to see, and
\nI\u2019ll make sure I do everything I can to get back in there. The
\ndivision is a little shaky at the moment. No one is very dominant
\nat the moment. I saw what I needed to see. I\u2019ll leave it at that.
\nI\u2019ve always seen Ankalaev as a top contender. So, he\u2019s definitely
\none of the guys that will be up next as well.\u201d<\/p>\n

Ulberg later took to social media to pitch matchups for the
\n205-pound title mix, suggesting Ankalaev fight Prochazka and
\nPaulo
\nCosta<\/a> take on Khalil
\nRountree<\/a> to determine who deserves the next title shot.<\/p>\n
