\nBarzilay<\/a> (7-1) is from Israel, and like some athletes from the
\ncountry, Barzilay is facing backlash amidst the ongoing
\nIsrael-Palestine conflict. Barzilay is scheduled to fight Lucas
\nAlmeida<\/a> (15-5) at
\nGordon Fight Nights 1<\/a> on July 27 at Menorah Mivtachim Arena in
\nTel Aviv and Silva is set to corner Barzilay for his upcoming
\nfight.<\/p>\n

A fan recently noted that Silva being in the Israeli capital will
\nlikely see him be labeled a \u2018Zionist\u2019 in Brazil. However, the
\n
\nUltimate Fighting Championship<\/a> featherweight refused to part
\nways with his longtime teammate. \u201cLord\u201d also says that he had to go
\nto Israel as none of their other Fighting Nerds teammates could
\nmake it. The Brazilian also believes a win over Almeida could earn
\nBarzilay a spot on
\nDana White\u2019s Contender Series<\/a>.<\/p>\n

\u201cI’m here 100% because of the fight of the Fighting Nerds fighter
\nIllay, who’s one of my main sparring partners,\u201d Silva wrote on X.
\n\u201cNobody could make it, and this fight could take him to the
\ncontender series. He shows up for all my fights, I knew it was
\ngonna be controversial but I chose not to ditch my brother of many
\nyears. I know the hate that’s already going around with me about
\nthis, but I didn’t wanna abandon my partner of years in one of the
\nmost important fights of his life because of hate.\u201d<\/p>\n

Barzilay is coming off his lone career loss in a failed
\nLegacy Fighting Alliance<\/a> lightweight title bid against Richie
\nMiranda<\/a> last August. Meanwhile, his upcoming opponent, Almeida,
\nwent 2-4 in the UFC and was released this past February on a
\ntwo-fight slump.<\/p>\n
