The reigning welterweight champion\u2019s first title defense will be
\nagainst Garry at UFC
\n330<\/a> on Aug. 15 at Xfinity Mobile Arena in Philadelphia and the
\nRussian says he has spent his entire training camp preparing for
\nhis Irish counterpart\u2019s evasive, movement-heavy fighting style.<\/p>\n

Islam Makhachev prepares for Ian Garry\u2019s movement-heavy style
\nahead of UFC 330 welterweight title fight<\/h2>\n

Ahead of his title defense, Makhachev broke down the matchup and
\nGarry\u2019s skill set. The former lightweight champ claims he\u2019s
\nprepared to chase \u201cThe Future\u201d in their upcoming bout, given how
\nthe latter has mostly fought on the back foot.<\/p>\n

\u201cHis skills: I just have to run in this camp too much because I
\nhave to follow him,\u201d Makhachev told MMA Fighting. \u201cHe runs too
\nmuch. I know his game plan. We always see his fights. He has the
\nsame style always. I will try to catch him, take him down, just
\nwhat I did with my old opponents.\u201d<\/p>\n

Garry has trained alongside former UFC lightweight champion
\nCharles
\n\u201cDo Bronxs\u201d Oliveira<\/a>, who fought Makhachev for the 155-pound
\ntitle in 2022. However, Makhachev doesn’t believe his former
\nopponent has much advice to offer, especially considering he made
\nlight work of the Brazilian, submitting him in the second round of
\ntheir clash.<\/p>\n

\u201cCharles is going to teach him how to tap fast. That’s it,\u201d
\nMakhachev added.<\/p>\n
