After Chimaev suffered the first loss of his professional career,
\nthe hype surrounding the former
\nUltimate Fighting Championship<\/a> champion has dampened. Stirling
\nrecently called him a \u201cone-trick pony\u201d and wants Chimaev to move up
\nto light heavyweight so they can fight.<\/p>\n

Why Navajo Stirling Believes Khamzat Chimaev Isn’t a Complete
\nFighter<\/h2>\n

While Stirling acknowledges that Chimaev would bring much attention
\nto the 205-pound division, the unbeaten Kiwi wants to expose how
\n\u201cBorz\u201d isn\u2019t a well-rounded fighter.<\/p>\n

\u201cI think he\u2019s a bit of a one-trick pony,\u201d Stirling told Full Send
\nMMA. \u201cI would love to fight him. I want to test my theory against
\nsomeone like that. I would love for some bigger names to come to
\nthe division that could bring some hype.\u201d<\/p>\n

Chimaev was undefeated and a massive betting favorite going into
\nhis first middleweight title defense against Sean
\nStrickland<\/a> at
\nUFC 328<\/a> this past May. However, he visibly gassed out after a
\nfailed takedown attempt in the second round and completely
\nabandoned his wrestling thereafter.<\/p>\n

Strickland then out-landed Chimaev on the feet en route to a
\nmassive upset win via split decision. UFC CEO Dana
\nWhite<\/a> later claimed that Chimaev had discussed a move up to
\nlight heavyweight in the immediate aftermath of his first
\nprofessional loss. However, he has since been repeatedly calling
\nfor a rematch against Strickland.<\/p>\n

Meanwhile, Stirling has racked up five UFC wins, with two finishes,
\nsince making his Octagon debut in 2024. He is now scheduled to
\nfight Jan
\nBlachowicz<\/a> on less than three weeks\u2019 notice at
\nUFC Belgrade<\/a> on Aug. 1 in Serbia.<\/p>\n
