\nUltimate Fighting Championship<\/a> lightweight champion to a BMF
\ntitle defense against Diego
\nLopes<\/a>.<\/p>\n

With Lopes making it clear that he\u2019s looking to move up to
\nlightweight after his knockout victory over Steve
\nGarcia<\/a> at
\nUFC Freedom 250<\/a>, rumors linking him to a fight against the BMF
\nchamp emerged. According to
\nChute Boxe<\/a> coach and Oliveira\u2019s manager, Diego Lima, their
\nteam\u2019s goal remains the undisputed lightweight crown.<\/p>\n

Diego Lima shuts down Oliveira vs. Lopes, eyes Justin Gaethje
\nrematch<\/h2>\n

Lima recently broke down the lightweight title mix, revealing that
\ncurrent champion Justin
\nGaethje<\/a> is expected to return to action next year. The veteran
\ncoach also acknowledged that Arman
\nTsarukyan<\/a>, who\u2019s beaten Oliveira, is ahead of \u201cdo Bronxs\u201d in
\nthe pecking order at 155 pounds. However, Lima highlighted the fact
\nthat his pupil is a bigger star than Tsarukyan and, more
\nimportantly, boasts a win over Gaethje.<\/p>\n

“Our biggest goal is the lightweight title, but obviously that
\ndoesn’t depend only on us,” Lima told Sherdog\u2019s Marcelo Alonso. “Gaethje is the champion and what we know is that he’s expected to
\nreturn in March or April of 2027, which puts us in a difficult
\nposition. Right now, we know that Arman is ahead of us. At the same
\ntime, we know Charles would sell much more, especially because he
\nalready defeated Gaethje and he’s also the current BMF
\nchampion.”<\/p>\n

Lima went on to deny claims that Oliveira and Lopes were in talks
\nfor a BMF title bout.<\/p>\n

“To be completely honest, we’re not talking about that at all,”
\nLima added. “My intention is not to touch the BMF belt right now
\nand instead focus on fighting Gaethje for the lightweight title. Of
\ncourse, depending on what the UFC wants to negotiate next, we’ll
\nevaluate it, but our objective is the undisputed lightweight
\nchampionship.”<\/p>\n

Oliveira is on a two-fight win streak, in which he submitted
\nMateusz
\nGamrot<\/a> and dominated Max
\nHolloway<\/a> to win the BMF title. According to the Brazilian\u2019s
\nteam, rematches against Tsarukyan or Gaethje are the only matchups
