\nUltimate Fighting Championship<\/a> welterweight Uros Medic<\/a>
\nbelieves he is unlikely to ever make headlines for controversial
\nreasons.<\/p>\n

Medic (13-3) is scheduled to fight Daniel
\nRodriguez<\/a> (20-5) in front of a home crowd at
\nUFC Belgrade<\/a> on Aug. 1 in Serbia. Notably, Rodriguez will
\nreturn to action for the first time since being imprisoned in
\nMexico for marijuana possession and Medic recently addressed the
\nsame.<\/p>\n

\n\u2018unfortunate\u2019<\/h2>\n

Medic believes arrests like Rodriguez\u2019s taint the image of MMA
\nfighters, which is already far from perfect. The Serbian believes
\nthe media is already waiting for fighters to slip up. \u201cThe Doctor\u201d
\nis confident that he will never be in the news for controversies
\nlike run-ins with the law or substance abuse.<\/p>\n

\u201cIt\u2019s unfortunate that he had to go through stuff like that,\u201d Medic
\ntold MMA Fighting. \u201cObviously, it was probably his fault. And I
\nthink that type of stuff puts a stain on all of our names, on all
\nthe fighters\u2019 names. Media cannot wait to write another bad story
\nabout an MMA fighter\u2026 So, I don\u2019t feed into any of that. I\u2019m not
\nthe type of fighter that\u2019s gonna be a controversial person and have
\ntrouble with the law, trouble with drugs, substance abuse, or
\nanything like that\u2026 I\u2019m a professional athlete, I carry myself
\nprofessionally\u2026 Obviously, I\u2019m no saint, but you won\u2019t see me in
\nthe news getting arrested.\u201d<\/p>\n

While marijuana has been legalized in many American states,
\nRodriguez was arrested for trying to cross the border with it.
\n\u201cD-Rod\u201d says he was carrying a small dose for personal consumption
\nand had done it multiple times in the past, never thinking that he
\nwould be arrested. \u201cD-Rod\u201d spent almost nine months in a prison in
\nTijuana, Mexico, before being released this past April. Rodriguez
\neven revealed that he enjoyed certain luxuries after befriending a
\ncartel boss.<\/p>\n

Medic has never gone the distance in his career and is currently
\nriding a three-fight streak of first-round knockouts. Meanwhile,
\nRodriguez is also riding a three-fight winning streak.<\/p>\n
