Uros Medic stuns UFC fans with 30-second main event knockout in
\nBelgrade<\/h2>\n

The first-ever
\nUltimate Fighting Championship<\/a> card in Serbia set the record
\nfor the most first-round finishes (10) in promotional history and
\nsaw the local fighters piling up five victories.<\/p>\n

Thirty seconds, that\u2019s how long it took for local hero Uros Medic<\/a>
\n(13-3, 7-3 UFC) to secure a victory against Daniel
\nRodriguez<\/a> (20-5, 10-4 UFC) in the
\nUFC Belgrade<\/a> main event. Medic took the center of the cage
\nbefore trading low kicks with fellow
\nDana White\u2019s Contender Series<\/a> alum Rodriguez. After a front
\nkick that served to take his opponent’s measure, “The Doctor”
\nlanded a counter left hook as the American pressed forward, then
\nfollowed up with a two-piece combination and a knee that
\nimmediately dropped “D-Rod.” Once on the canvas, the Serbian fired
\na soccer kick to the body and a few more punches. With the veteran
\nno longer defending himself intelligently, referee Jason Herzog
\nwaved it off.<\/p>\n

In front of a chanting arena, Medic asked for a clash with former
\n170-pound titleholder Leon
\nEdwards<\/a> in the post-fight interview, among others.

In the co-feature, rising 205-pound prospect Navajo
\nStirling<\/a> (11-0, 6-0 UFC) annihilated former divisional kingpin
\nJan
\nBlachowicz<\/a> (29-12-2, 12-9-2 UFC) in the opening frame. A
\nshort-notice replacement for Bogdan
\nGuskov<\/a>, Stirling sent his opponent careening across the cage
\nwith a big right hand. Smelling blood, Stirling opened Blachowicz
\nup with sharp elbows and unloaded with leather. Winless in more
\nthan four years, 43-year-old Blachowicz could offer only timid
\ndefense before referee Marc Goddard<\/a>
\nstepped in at the 2:56 mark of Round 1. In victory, Stirling scored
\nthe seventh stoppage of his career and looked ready to take on the
\nupper part of the light heavyweight rankings.<\/p>\n

Earlier, Aleksandar
\nRakic<\/a> (15-6, 7-5 UFC) and Marcin
\nTybura<\/a> (27-12, 14-11 UFC) went the distance in their
\nheavyweight tilt. It was his first foray into the heavyweight
\ndivision and the move paid off. Rakic looked lighter on his feet
\nand outsmarted \u201cTybur\u201d on several occasions, controlling all three
\nrounds but never pushing for the finish. When the dust settled,
\n\u201cRocket\u201d collected three 30-27 scorecards from the judges and
\nsnapped a four-bout skid.<\/p>\n

In a 185-pound attraction, Robert
\nValentin<\/a> (12-6, 1 NC; 2-3 UFC) forced Dusko
\nTodorovic<\/a> (13-7, 4-7 UFC) to tap to a guillotine choke in the
\nopening scrap. “Robzilla” hunted a standing guillotine from the
\nopening bell, but Todorovic defended well enough to scramble back
\nto his feet. The end came when “Thunder” left his neck exposed,
\nallowing Valentin to lock up a guillotine and drag the fight back
\nto the mat. The squeeze was deep enough that
\nTodorovic had no choice but to tap at 4:14 of Round
\n1<\/a><\/strong>.<\/p>\n

Gilbert
\nUrbina<\/a> (8-4, 2-3 UFC) crushed Vlastislav
\nCepo<\/a> (14-4, 0-1 UFC) with punches in the first round of his
\n185-pound debut. Both men came out swinging in search of an early
\nfinish, but Urbina was the sharper of the two, timing a clean shot
\nthat put \u201cEl Chapo\u201d on the canvas. From there, the 30-year-old
\n
\npoured down punches and elbows<\/a><\/strong>. With Cepo no longer
\nintelligently defending himself, referee Marc Goddard<\/a>
\nstepped in just 61 seconds into the fight.<\/p>\n

In the 155-pound main card opener, Noah Gugnon<\/a>
\n(10-2, 1-0 UFC) silenced the home crowd with a win over Milos
\nJanicic<\/a> (19-4, 0-1 UFC). Gugnon landed a leg kick that badly
\ncompromised Janicic’s lead leg early, forcing \u201cCobra\u201d to retreat to
\nhis back. The Frenchman followed him down,
\ntook his back with ease, and locked in a rear-naked
\nchoke<\/a><\/strong>. The official end came just 81 seconds out of
\nthe gate.<\/p>\n

In the featured fight of the preliminary card, former
\nRizin Fighting Federation<\/a> lightweight grand prix winner
\nTofiq
\nMusayev<\/a> (24-6, 2-1 UFC) overcame Ludovit
\nKlein<\/a> (24-6-1, 8-4-1 UFC) in an entertaining scrap. The
\n36-year-old appeared to have the edge throughout, getting the
\nbetter of the exchanges in both volume and quality. In the final
\nminute of the second stanza, the Azerbaijani fighter dropped Klein
\nwith a three-piece combination against the fence, then poured on
\nground-and-pound until referee Kerry Hatley stepped in at the 4:07
\nmark of Round 2. In the post-fight interview, the Orion Fight Club
\nfighter called for a ranked opponent next.<\/p>\n
