Several retired fighters have been embroiled in controversies since
\nretiring from competition. The recent arrests of former
\nUltimate Fighting Championship<\/a> fighters Dustin
\nPoirier<\/a> and Anthony
\nSmith<\/a> have brought the issue to the limelight. This has
\nprompted Till to speculate on what lies ahead for him if he doesn\u2019t
\nfind a new \u201chealthy obsession\u201d after retiring.<\/p>\n

Darren Till reacts to recent fighter arrests and discusses life
\nafter MMA<\/h2>\n

Poirier was arrested at Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International
\nAirport after threatening to fight a police officer and even using
\na racial slur while intoxicated. The former interim champion has
\nsince committed to sobriety indefinitely and apologized for his
\nactions. On the other hand, Smith\u2019s recent arrest was far more
\nshocking, as he has been accused of trying to harm his wife, with
\nwitnesses even claiming to have heard gunshots from their
\nhouse.<\/p>\n

While Till admits that the recent arrests have him worried about
\nhis own future, \u201cThe Gorilla\u201d isn\u2019t taking Poirier\u2019s arrest too
\nseriously, as he admittedly behaves similarly quite often. The Brit
\nbelieves that he has identified the problem that leads to retired
\nfighters getting into trouble. According to the former UFC title
\nchallenger, retired fighters often get into vices chasing the high
\nthat fighting used to give them.<\/p>\n

Till hasn\u2019t found his next big passion yet and is concerned about
\nhimself, as he claims to be worse than most fighters in terms of
\nvices.<\/p>\n

\u201cI think life after fighting, if we don\u2019t find a healthy obsession,
\nmore than likely we always find an unhealthy obsession,\u201d Till told
\nAriel Helwani. \u201cBecause I think it gives us the same type of high
\nthat fighting does\u2026 I’m not gonna f*cking judge them. I actually
\nsaid something about Dustin… I was like, \u2018Mate, shut up. You
\nhaven’t even done anything. I carry on like that every Friday and
\nSaturday, so just shut the f*ck up. Who gives a f*ck?\u2019 I get it.
\nSome people are a little bit more embarrassed… I haven\u2019t got the
\nremedy for it, but I definitely know what\u2019s the problem\u2026 I’m 10
\ntimes worse than all these other fighters\u2026 I do get a bit scared
\nmyself for what’s to come, so I now need to be thinking, over the
\nnext three years, what to put in place so it doesn’t end up like
\nthat.\u201d<\/p>\n

Till has racked up three boxing wins and one bare-knuckle boxing
\nvictory since parting ways with the UFC in 2022. He is now
\nscheduled to fight Yoel Romero<\/a>
\nin a bare-knuckle boxing bout at BKFC 94 on Sept. 26.<\/p>\n
