\nUltimate Fighting Championship<\/a> after a five-year hiatus against
\nMax

\nUFC 329<\/a>. However, the highly anticipated rematch ended
\nanticlimactically as McGregor injured his knee with the first kick
\nhe threw. The Irishman could barely plant his leg after the injury,
\nforcing the referee to step in at just 69 seconds of the opening
\nround.<\/p>\n

Despite the longtime rivalry between their teams, Makhachev feels
\nbad for the former two-division champ.<\/p>\n

While the Dagestani contingent aren\u2019t fans of McGregor, Makhachev
\n(28-1) commiserated with the fan favorite. While the reigning
\nwelterweight champion expected Holloway to win, he didn\u2019t see the
\nfight ending the way it did. Makhachev recently revealed that he
\nwas interested in seeing how McGregor would perform after five
\nyears of inactivity.<\/p>\n

\u201cHonestly, I feel bad,\u201d Makhachev told Complex. \u201cI know Max was
\ngoing to beat him, but not fast like this, in the first minute. I
\nwant to see how he fights after five years. And honestly, feel bad
\nwhen this happen.\u201d<\/p>\n

McGregor and Makhachev\u2019s mentor, Khabib
\nNurmagomedov<\/a>, shared one of the most intense rivalries in UFC
\nhistory. \u201cNotorious\u201d had targeted Nurmagomedov\u2019s family and
\nreligion in the lead-up to their historic clash. When they finally
\nmet in the Octagon in 2018, \u201cThe Eagle\u201d forced the tap from
\nMcGregor in the fourth round.<\/p>\n

Nurmagomedov then jumped the cage and launched himself at
\nMcGregor\u2019s teammates, leading to an all-out brawl. Makhachev was
\nalso involved, jumping inside the cage with other teammates, who
\nattacked McGregor.<\/p>\n

McGregor has one fight left on his current UFC contract, which he
\nvows to fulfill, with a return next summer in sight. Meanwhile, in
\nyet another chapter in the Dagestan-Ireland rivalry, Makhachev will
\nlook to defend his 170-pound title against Irish welterweight
