\nSilva<\/a>\u2019s career might be cut short.<\/p>\n

Silva (11-2) recently revealed that he is contemplating retirement
\nafter spending three days in the hospital. Despite his body hurting
\nafter a recent training session, \u201cPuma\u201d went for a three-mile run.
\nIt was during the run that Silva\u2019s body started shutting down. When
\nhe saw swelling on his neck after returning home, the 29-year-old
\nvisited the hospital.<\/p>\n

UFC featherweight Danny Silva details neck thrombosis,
\npulmonary embolism<\/h2>\n

Silva\u2019s scans revealed a massive thrombosis in his neck, with part
\nof the clot causing a pulmonary embolism in his lung. Doctors told
\nhim that while 50% of patients wouldn\u2019t have made it, the UFC
\nprospect\u2019s great physical shape helped him survive. With much still
\nunknown about his health, Silva is unsure about his future in
\nfighting.<\/p>\n

The American, who has only lost to surging contender Kevin
\nVallejos<\/a> in four UFC outings, says his second-round knockout
\nwin over Kuris Campbell at UFC London this past March might have
\nbeen his \u201clast dance.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cCould this have been my last dance? I don\u2019t know,\u201d Silva wrote on
\nInstagram before detailing the entire ordeal.<\/p>\n

\u201cTwo weeks ago I thought I had a rib out. I pushed through like
\nevery fighter does. Friday I sparred, did my sprints, and my team
\nthought I looked good. I didn\u2019t want to make excuses, but I
\nmentioned that my left arm was hurting and my rib was hurting. My
\nteam helped with cupping and scraping. That same night I went for a
\nrun at 8 p.m. I did 3 miles. On the 3rd mile, my body was shutting
\ndown. I pushed because I won\u2019t quit on myself, and 3 miles should
\nbe nothing. I got home, and there was swelling on the left side of
\nmy neck and pec. A good doctor friend of mine recommended I go to
\nthe ER to make sure I wasn\u2019t having a heart attack. After 9 hours
\nin the ER, doing EKGs and CT scans, they came back with some bad
\nnews. I had multiple blood clots. They found a massive thrombosis
\nin a vein in my neck, and part of the clot had broken off and
\ntraveled to my lung, causing a pulmonary embolism. This news has
\nchanged my life. Spending 3 nights in the hospital was awful. The
\nfact that I was still sparring and in such good shape just tells me
\nhow tough I can be in the face of adversity. Because I\u2019m in such
\ngood shape I was able to survive. They told me 50% of people don\u2019t
\nmake it. The fact that I was training, sparring and pushing myself
\nmay have saved my life. But right now there\u2019s still so much I don\u2019t
\nknow. I\u2019m finally out of the hospital, but I have to be on
\nmedication for a couple of months. This isn\u2019t the first time I\u2019ve
\nhad a setback. My worst enemy has always been me. My mind is
\nstrong. It sucks when something out of your control tries to take
\nyou away from your dream.\u201d<\/p>\n

Silva then reflected on how his recent health scare might affect
\nhis future before thanking those closest to him.<\/p>\n

\u201cI won\u2019t give up. I\u2019d rather die trying, as bad as that sounds,
\nespecially because I was close to dying. Before that, I want to say
\nthank you to everyone who took care of me during this hard time. My
\nnurses and doctors were incredible, and I\u2019m beyond grateful for the
\ncare I received. To my friends and family who showed up, stayed
\nwith me and never left my side\u2014I felt all the love. You all gave me
\nthe strength I needed to get through this. I\u2019m sorry to all my
\nfriends, my family and my team. I wish the outcome was different.
\nHope God has a plan.\u201d<\/p>\n
