Usman
\nNurmagomedov<\/a> is currently the most sought-after free agent in
\nmixed martial arts.<\/p>\n

His manager, Ali Abdelaziz, recently discussed Nurmagomedov\u2019s
\ncontract situation, claiming that the
\nProfessional Fighters League<\/a> did not offer the unbeaten
\nlightweight champion a new contract before the final bout of his
\ndeal.<\/p>\n

Usman Nurmagomedov\u2019s PFL departure creates intrigue around UFC,
\nDana White and Khabib Nurmagomedov involvement<\/h2>\n

Nurmagomedov (22-0) completed the final fight of his PFL contract
\nat the promotion\u2019s July 31 event, where he scored a first-round
\nknockout victory over Archie
\nColgan<\/a>. Abdelaziz has now revealed that the promotion had the
\nopportunity to re-sign him ahead of
\nPFL New York<\/a>.<\/p>\n

\u201cListen, the truth of the matter is PFL had an opportunity to sign
\nhim before the fight,\u201d Abdelaziz told MMA Junkie. \u201cAnd you know how
\nmuch I love PFL\u2026 They’re great people. PFL always gives an
\nopportunity for people and they don’t get enough credit.\u201d<\/p>\n

According to Abdelaziz, Nurmagomedov chose to complete his contract
\nrather than negotiate a new deal before the fight.<\/p>\n

\u201cUsman took a risk,\u201d the veteran manager said. \u201cHe could have went
\nout there and lost. Archie could have beaten him. He took a risk.
\nHe gambled on himself and he won.\u201d<\/p>\n

Abdelaziz then confirmed that PFL has a 90-day exclusive
\nnegotiating window after Nurmagomedov\u2019s last bout, following which
\nthey\u2019ll assess their options.<\/p>\n

\u201cIn the next 90 days, they have an exclusive negotiation,\u201d
\nAbdelaziz added. \u201cAfter that, I’m going to talk to other people and
\nwe’ll figure it out.\u201d<\/p>\n

\nWhite<\/a> previously hinted that the UFC is interested in
\nNurmagomedov. However, Abdelaziz downplayed the chances of a UFC
\nmove, claiming that negotiations and Khabib
\nNurmagomedov<\/a>\u2019s approval are pending.<\/p>\n

\u201cIt\u2019s not like 100% he’s leaving and going to the UFC. It doesn’t
\nwork like that,\u201d Abdelaziz concluded. \u201cIt has to be a lot of
\ndecisions. I have to negotiate, he has to like it, Khabib has to
\nsign off on it and this is how we work.”<\/p>\n
