Shortly after the merger, MVP co-founder Nakisa Bidarian doubled
\ndown on the promotion’s long-term ambitions, arguing that the new
\nventure will prioritize fighters in ways he believes the industry
\nleader has failed to do. This comes shortly after UFC CEO Dana
\nWhite<\/a> dismissed the newly merged company as a threat to his
\npromotion.<\/p>\n

MVP co-founder outlines why he believes the merged promotion
\ncan become a legitimate UFC rival<\/h2>\n

The merger between MVP and PFL represents one of the most
\nsignificant recent developments in the professional mixed martial
\narts landscape. While some have suggested the merger could create a
\nviable competitor to the UFC, others have dismissed that
\npossibility.<\/p>\n

Bidarian has now highlighted MVP’s long-term approach. Speaking to
\nTMZ Sports, he said the organization’s vision centers on creating a
\nfighter-first platform.<\/p>\n

\u201cOur opportunity is very clear: a fighter-first platform that
\nprioritizes the fans,\u201d Bidarian said. \u201cThe incumbent in the space
\ndoesn’t prioritize building fighter IP, but prioritizes the
\ncompany’s IP. That’s great business, but you have to make fighters
\nfeel like they’re the priority. That’s what our platform has always
\nbeen about.\u201d<\/p>\n

Bidarian, who previously worked for the UFC, suggested key areas
\nwhere the promotion often falls short.<\/p>\n

\u201cI had the privilege of being at the UFC… They’re the best
\npromotional entity in the world,\u201d he added. \u201cBut I also saw what
\nthings I would do better.\u201d<\/p>\n

Bidarian also criticized White’s approach to promoting events,
\nciting a recent media appearance in which the UFC CEO dismissed a
\nreporter’s question about the card.<\/p>\n

\u201cThat\u2019s the irreverence of what that has become in terms of
\nfighters and the product,\u201d Bidarian said.<\/p>\n

Despite conceding that MVP remains well behind the UFC in terms of
\nlongevity and overall scale, Bidarian pointed to the company’s
\nrecent successes as proof that it can emerge as a legitimate
\ncompetitor.<\/p>\n

\u201cJake said it last week: there’s Nike and Adidas, there’s Coke and
\nPepsi,\u201d Bidarian said. \u201cWe want it to be UFC and MVP. We’re not
\nfooling ourselves into thinking we’ll become the reference brand in
\na year or two, but give us a little bit of time.\u201d<\/p>\n
