\nUltimate Fighting Championship<\/a> returned to Las Vegas, Nevada,
\nwith a card headlined by a pair of lightweight affairs.<\/p>\n

The
\nUFC Vegas 120<\/a> headliner pitted veteran Mateusz
\nGamrot<\/a> (26-5, 1 NC; 9-5 UFC) against up-and-coming 155-pound
\nprospect Quillan
\nSalkilld<\/a> (13-1, 6-0 UFC). The 26-year-old fighter clipped
\n\u201cGamer\u201d early with his jab, which caused the Pole to dive on a
\nsingle-leg and hunt a heel hook, sparking a wild series of
\nscrambles. As the Aussie stayed upright and battered his opponent
\nwith close-range punches, it quickly became clear he had the edge
\nover the Pole. At the end of one back-and-forth grappling exchange,
\nSalkilld took the 35-year-old\u2019s back and went for a rear-naked
\nchoke. It wasn’t there the first time, so he readjusted his grip
\nbefore latching on again and
\nforcing the tap<\/a><\/strong> at the 4:25 mark of Round 1. In
\nvictory, the young lightweight scored his fifth first-round finish
\ninside the Octagon.<\/p>\n

In the co-feature, high output and striking accuracy helped carry
\nDiego
\nFerreira<\/a> (20-7, 11-7 UFC) to a victory over Billy
\nQuarantillo<\/a> (18-8, 6-6 UFC). Both fighters traded strikes on
\nthe feet in the opening frame, but Ferreira was the more accurate
\nand inventive, moving the action to the canvas when needed. The
\nBrazilian also dictated the pace in the second. The former King of
\nthe Cage lightweight champion felt some urgency in Round 3,
\nshooting for a takedown before the 42-year-old fighter reversed
\nhim, took his foe’s back, passed to full mount and landed a few
\nshots before losing the position. The 37-year-old had his moments
\nlate as Careiro da V\u00e1rzea-born looked out of gas. When the dust
\nsettled, Bruce Buffer announced Ferreira won the contest via
\nunanimous decision with 30-27 scores from all three judges.<\/p>\n
