Tsarukyan will look to defend his spot in the lightweight rankings
\nwhen he takes on Ruffy in the co-main event of UFC
\n331<\/a> in Los Angeles on Sept. 19. Ahead of the fight, Marcos da
\nMatta<\/a> broke down Ruffy\u2019s skillset and how it compares to
\nTopuria\u2019s.<\/p>\n

Marcos da Matta says Mauricio Ruffy brings more striking
\nweapons than Ilia Topuria<\/h2>\n

Speaking to Brazilian YouTube channel Podcast Connect Cast, the
\n
\nAmerican Top Team<\/a> coach praised Ruffy’s striking arsenal and
\naddressed the upcoming lightweight clash.<\/p>\n

\u201cEveryone knows Arman’s strengths and Ruffy’s strengths,\u201d Da Matta
\nsaid. \u201cArman’s strengths are grappling, ground-and-pound and jiu
\njitsu, while Ruffy is obviously an excellent striker.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cParrumpa\u201d then discussed how Ruffy\u2019s variety of strikes makes him
\nmore dangerous than Topuria, who primarily relies on boxing
\ncombinations and leg kicks.<\/p>\n

“Ruffy might be the most dangerous and versatile guy in the
\ndivision,\u201d he added. \u201cTopuria is dangerous, but he relies on two or
\nthree techniques \u2014 like the hook to the body, the overhand right
\nand maybe one or two others. Ruffy has kicks, knees, punches from
\nboth sides\u2026 He switches stances and throws spinning kicks\u2014he is
\ntruly very dangerous.\u201d<\/p>\n
