Garry defeated Belal
\nMuhammad<\/a> last November, with Arman
\nTsarukyan<\/a> finishing Dan Hooker<\/a> in
\nthe main event of the same card in Doha, Qatar. Chimaev, who was in
\nTsarukyan\u2019s corner, then had an altercation with Garry backstage,
\nwhich \u201cThe Future\u201d recently revisited.<\/p>\n

Ian Garry recalls Khamzat Chimaev altercation<\/h2>\n

Garry shook hands with the entire team and also patted Chimaev on
\nthe back. The latter then seemingly felt provoked and pushed Garry
\nbefore security stepped in.<\/p>\n

Garry recently shared his side of the story, claiming he had no
\nmalicious intent when he was greeting Chimaev and his entire team.
\nThe Irishman also notes that Chimaev didn\u2019t immediately react when
\nhe patted him. Garry claims Chimaev was fired up only after people
\nstepped in between them. He believes Chimaev would have gotten
\nphysical when they were in proximity if he really wanted to.<\/p>\n

\u201cMe and Khamzat aren\u2019t boys,\u201d Garry told Full Send MMA. \u201cWhen I go
\nto a team and there\u2019s Arman Tsarukyan tying his shoelace, I said
\ncongrats to him, I said congrats to his other coach and congrats to
\none more. And I leave one guy out and I didn\u2019t see him. And I go,
\n\u2018Oh sh*t, sorry champ, how are you?\u2019 We were cool, we were fine at
\nthat point. It was only when someone stepped in between us that it
\nwas a problem. If he wanted to suplex me and put me on my skull, he
\nwould have done it when I [leaned on him]. Go watch my body
\nlanguage again\u2026 In no way, shape, or form was it aggressive. It was
\npurely out of respect; there was no mal intent.\u201d<\/p>\n

Chimaev (15-1) lost his middleweight title to Sean
\nStrickland<\/a> in a massive upset this past May. The Chechen-born
\nfighter is now rallying for a rematch against Strickland.
\nMeanwhile, Garry (17-1) is scheduled to challenge Islam
\nMakhachev<\/a> (28-1) for the
\nUltimate Fighting Championship<\/a> welterweight title in the main
\nevent of UFC
\n330<\/a> on Aug. 15 at Xfinity Mobile Arena in Philadelphia.<\/p>\n
