Joe Rogan has once again criticized the
\nUltimate Fighting Championship<\/a>‘s show-win system.<\/p>\n

The longtime UFC commentator believes the promotion’s standard pay
\nstructure leaves too much of a fighter’s earnings dependent on the
\nresult, even when the outcome can be influenced by factors outside
\nthe athlete’s control.<\/p>\n

\npurses instead of having significant pay tied to a win bonus<\/h2>\n

Under the UFC’s longtime payment model, fighters receive a
\nguaranteed purse for competing and typically double their pay in
\nvictory, although individual contracts can vary significantly based
\non status and tenure. Rogan has long criticized this system.<\/p>\n

\u201cThat is the most bullsh*t part of the UFC, you get both your
\npaychecks [only if you win],\u201d Rogan said on his podcast while
\nspeaking to former bantamweight champ Aljamain
\nSterling<\/a>. \u201cF*ck off. F*ck off with that. I hate it. That drives
\nme nuts.\u201d<\/p>\n

Rogan believes athletes should instead receive a larger guaranteed
\npurse without nearly half of their income being dependent on the
\nresult. He argues that the win bonus doesn\u2019t add any extra
\nincentive in a fight.<\/p>\n

\u201cIt should be you get paid what you get paid,\u201d Rogan added.
\n\u201cThere\u2019s no one who\u2019s fighting harder because you think you\u2019re
\ngoing to get a win bonus. You\u2019re fighting as hard as you possibly
\ncan. At the highest level, you\u2019re not incentivizing people to fight
\nharder; you\u2019re just giving too much of their career, too much of
\ntheir future, too much of their actual \u2018How are they going to feed
\ntheir family?\u2019 to the whims of people that sometimes get it
\nwrong.\u201d<\/p>\n
