\nGarry<\/a> fell short in his maiden title bid in the
\nUltimate Fighting Championship<\/a>, but he made no excuses for the
\nloss.<\/p>\n

The Irishman lost to Islam
\nMakhachev<\/a> in the UFC
\n330<\/a> main event at Xfinity Mobile Arena in Philadelphia, with
\nthe champion winning on all three judges\u2019 scorecards to retain the
\nwelterweight title. Garry spoke highly of Makhachev in his
\npost-fight interview, while also claiming that he felt he was
\nbetter on the night.<\/p>\n

Ian Garry says he was better than Islam Makhachev in UFC 330
\ntitle fight<\/h2>\n

Garry is proud of his performance and didn\u2019t dispute the judges\u2019
\ndecision. He also praised the champ, commending Makhachev for
\nmaking the move up from lightweight and being successful at
\nwelterweight.<\/p>\n

\u201cNothing surprised me. I have nothing but respect for Islam,\u201d Garry
\ntold Joe Rogan. \u201cWe should all sit back, show him respect, to come
\nup here and win that second belt. I believed in my heart and in my
\nsoul, I was better than him tonight. He won. I have no complaints,
\nno excuses.\u201d<\/p>\n

Garry also emphasized that he still has plenty of time left in his
\ncareer and intends to accomplish much more going into his prime.
\nThe 28-year-old then credited his team and family for helping him
\nprepare for the biggest fight of his career.<\/p>\n

\u201cThis is the best camp of my life; I’m proud of my team,\u201d Garry
\nadded. \u201cI’m proud of my family. I love my wife, my little boy. I
\nfight to make them happy.\u201d<\/p>\n
