The hierarchy of the 170-pound and women\u2019s 115-pound divisions was
\nat stake in the
\nUltimate Fighting Championship<\/a>\u2019s return to Xfinity Mobile Arena
\nin Philadelphia.<\/p>\n

The UFC
\n330<\/a> headliner saw Islam
\nMakhachev<\/a> (29-1, 18-1 UFC) cement his status as one of the best
\nmixed martial artists ever as he outpointed Irish challenger
\nIan
\nGarry<\/a> (17-2, 10-2 UFC). The former 155-pound titleholder
\nstarted strong, dominating his opponent in the opening frame with
\nhis wrestling-based style. He then dropped Garry with a head kick
\nin the second before controlling his foe on the ground until the
\nend of the stanza. Garry fared better in Round 3, when Makhachev
\nappeared slightly fatigued and slowed his relentless takedown
\nattempts. \u201cThe Future\u201d was sharper with his strikes, putting
\ntogether his best round of the contest.<\/p>\n

The Dagestani fighter struggled in Round 4 as well, while Garry
\ncontinued to score with his strikes. The fight looked fairly even
\nentering the fifth and final frame before Makhachev scored a
\ntakedown and took his foe\u2019s back. He then settled into the dominant
\nposition after locking in a tight body triangle, letting the fight
\ngo the distance. When the dust settled, Bruce Buffer announced that
\nMakhachev had won the fight by scores of 49-46, 49-46 and 48-47.
\nThe Dagestani is riding a 17-bout winning streak, setting the
\nrecord for the longest in promotional history by surpassing former
\nUFC 185-pound titleholder Anderson
\nSilva<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Mackenzie Dern outgrapples Gillian Robertson to retain UFC
\nstrawweight title<\/h2>\n

In the co-feature, Mackenzie
\nDern<\/a> (17-5, 12-5 UFC) retained the UFC women\u2019s strawweight
\ncrown after outclassing \u201cThe Ultimate Fighter\u201d Season 26 graduate
\nGillian
\nRobertson<\/a> (17-9, 14-7 UFC) en route to a unanimous decision.
\nDern dominated the fight by moving the action to the canvas as
\nquickly as possible, with Robertson never finding a way to stop her
\nopponent\u2019s advances. On the mat, the American showcased her
\nBrazilian jiu-jitsu skills by controlling her foe and threatening
\nwith several submission attempts. The RVCA representative came
\nclose to finishing Robertson with a rear-naked choke at the end of
\nRound 1, but the Canadian survived. Robertson had a better fifth
\nstanza but never seriously threatened to dethrone Dern as the fight
\nwent the distance. Ultimately, the judges scored it 49-46, 49-46
\nand 48-47 in favor of Dern. With the victory, Dern secured the
\nfirst title defense of her championship run, extended her winning
\nstreak to four and cemented herself
\nas one of the best women\u2019s pound-for-pound fighters in the
\nworld<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Earlier on the card,
\nDana White\u2019s Contender Series<\/a> graduate Jalin
\nTurner<\/a> (16-9, 9-6 UFC) flattened Kaue
\nFernandes<\/a> (11-3, 3-2 UFC), scoring his second straight Octagon
\nwin. Turner countered an ill-advised spinning backfist attempt by
\nFernandes with a left hook, immediately dropping his foe. Smelling
\nblood, \u201cThe Tarantula\u201d followed with a barrage of punches until
\nreferee Jason Herzog stepped in 39 seconds into the fight.<\/p>\n

Pennsylvania\u2019s own Dustin
\nStoltzfus<\/a> (17-8, 4-7 UFC) submitted Mansur
\nAbdul-Malik<\/a> (9-2-1, 3-2-1 UFC) with only 35 seconds left in
\nRound 2, snapping a two-bout skid in their 185-pound pairing. The
\nPennsylvanian was the underdog entering the fight, but he proved to
\nbe the better grappler. When the chance came to take Abdul-Malik\u2019s
\nback, Stoltzfus made the most of the favorable position and
\n
\nfinished the fight with a rear-naked choke<\/a><\/strong>.<\/p>\n

In the main-card opener, Argentine up-and-comer Esteban
\nRibovics<\/a> (16-3, 5-3 UFC) forced longtime UFC 155-pounder
\nEdson
\nBarboza<\/a> (24-15, 18-15 UFC) into retirement after stopping his
\nopponent 92 seconds into the second frame. Barboza looked far from
\nhis former self and
\nsuccumbed to a combination of punches<\/a><\/strong> after being
\npinned against the fence. After the fight, Barboza laid his gloves
\nin the Octagon, wrapping up a 17-year career.<\/p>\n

Elsewhere on the prelims, Chidi
\nNjokuani<\/a> (26-12, 1 NC; 6-5 UFC) returned to the win column
\nafter back-to-back defeats by outpointing Joel
\nAlvarez<\/a> (23-5, 8-4 UFC) en route to a unanimous decision
\n(30-27, 30-27, 29-28) at the end of an uneventful welterweight
\nmatchup; in his fourth assignment this year, Charles
\nJohnson<\/a> (20-9, 9-7 UFC) spoiled the promotional debut of
\nshort-notice replacement and former Legacy Fighting Alliance
\n125-pound titleholder Eduardo
\nHenrique<\/a> (15-3, 0-1 UFC) after
\nsubmitting his foe with a rare Scottish twister at 1:36 of Round
\n3<\/a><\/strong> in their 130-pound catchweight bout; in a 185-pound
\nclash, Donte
\nJohnson<\/a> (9-0, 3-0 UFC) kept his record unblemished after
