\nGarry<\/a> has no intention of dwelling on his failed title bid in
\nthe
\nUltimate Fighting Championship<\/a> against Islam
\nMakhachev<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Garry came up short against Makhachev in the UFC
\n330<\/a> main event in Philadelphia, dropping a unanimous decision
\nafter a hard-fought five-round battle. The Russian retained the
\nwelterweight championship and extended his winning streak in the
\nUFC to 17 straight victories, a new record. Nevertheless, the
\nchallenger is encouraged by his performance and what the future
\nholds for him.<\/p>\n

Ian Garry addresses UFC 330 loss and promises to come back
\nstronger<\/h2>\n

Garry believes his performance against Makhachev showed that he
\nbelongs at the highest level of the sport.<\/p>\n

\u201cTonight wasn\u2019t my night,\u201d Garry said on Instagram. \u201cI feel great,
\nI did great, Islam was just better than me tonight and that\u2019s OK. I
\nwant everybody who loves me and supports me and wants to see me do
\nbetter; I want you to know that I\u2019m going to be back.\u201d<\/p>\n

The former
\nCage Warriors<\/a> champ then emphasized that he\u2019s yet to enter his
\nprime and still pushed the No.1 pound-for-pound fighter to the
\nlimit.<\/p>\n

\u201cI\u2019m not disheartened by this,\u201d Garry continued. \u201cI\u2019m bulletproof
\nin my mind. I\u2019m 28 years of age; I just fought maybe the greatest
\nfighter we\u2019ve ever seen in this sport and I pushed him to the
\nf*cking wire and I\u2019m so proud of myself and I\u2019m so proud of my team
\nand everything that we\u2019ve done. I\u2019m so proud of what I\u2019ve done in
\nthis world and who I\u2019ve become. Nobody\u2019s stopping me. Tonight was
\nnot my night.\u201d<\/p>\n

Garry then congratulated Makhachev before revealing his excitement
\nin future matchups.<\/p>\n

\u201cIslam, your team, congratulations,\u201d he added. \u201cYour guys did
\namazing. I have nothing but love and respect for everything you
\nguys have done in this sport; I said that to you. I\u2019ll be back.
\nThere\u2019s plenty of matchups in this sport, plenty of fun matchups
\nthat I\u2019m excited for. We\u2019ll be back and we\u2019ll be better than ever.
\nI love you all, let\u2019s go, baby.\u201d<\/p>\n

The defeat marks just the second loss of Garry’s career. He began
\nhis professional career 15-0, winning his first eight UFC bouts
\nbefore suffering his first defeat against Shavkat
\nRakhmonov<\/a>. Garry bounced back with wins over Belal
\nMuhammad<\/a> and Carlos
\nPrates<\/a> before earning his title shot.<\/p>\n
