\nthe Irishman\u2019s preparation for their title bout.<\/p>\n

The
\nUltimate Fighting Championship<\/a> welterweight king retained his
\nbelt with a hard-fought victory over Garry in the main event of
\nUFC
\n330<\/a> in Philadelphia. The challenger pushed the champ to the
\nlimit and the latter recently revealed what made the five-rounder
\nso challenging.<\/p>\n

How Ian Garry\u2019s patient approach frustrated Islam Makhachev at
\nUFC 330<\/h2>\n

Makhachev claims Garry\u2019s lack of output on the feet made the
\nmatchup a tricky puzzle to solve.<\/p>\n

\u201cVery hard to fight with someone who stands\u2026 No working, just
\nstanding and waiting,\u201d Makhachev said in a post-fight interview.
\n\u201cVery difficult. He prepared himself well for the fight; he gave me
\na hard time, but no matter. From the first second to the last
\nsecond, I am going to war. I am going to win, doesn\u2019t matter
\nhow.\u201d<\/p>\n

Later, at the post-fight presser, Makhachev revealed that Garry
\ncaught him with an inadvertent headbutt during one of their
\ngrappling exchanges.<\/p>\n

\u201cHe gave me a very hard headbutt,\u201d Makhachev said. \u201cIt\u2019s OK. Hard
\nfight. It makes you improve and I feel I improved.\u201d<\/p>\n

Makhachev edged the final round to seal a closely contested
\ndecision, breaking the record for the longest win streak in UFC
\nhistory. He\u2019s now targeting Carlos
\nPrates<\/a> for his second title defense at 170 pounds.<\/p>\n
