Fernando (14-3) made his promotional debut against Rafael

\n330<\/a>. He put on a striking clinic before dropping Tobias with a
\nknee to the body and finishing him with vicious follow-up shots in

Lucas Fernando rebounded from DWCS and LFA losses to earn his
\nUFC opportunity<\/h2>\n

Fernando called his wife during the post-fight press conference and
\nsaid he couldn\u2019t wait to return to her in Brazil after being in the
\nU.S. for a month. He also credited his wife for talking him out of
\nquitting mixed martial arts after his loss on
\nDana White\u2019s Contender Series<\/a> in 2023. While Fernando was
\nskeptical about fully committing to the sport after his defeat, his
\nwife convinced him to pursue his dream of a UFC career.<\/p>\n

\u201cMy wife, I miss her a lot,\u201d Fernando said at the post-fight
\npresser. \u201cI\u2019ve been in the United States for a month training, so I
\ncan\u2019t wait to go home\u2026 After the loss in Contender, I called her up
\nand said, \u2018You know, maybe this is not for me. I should look for
\nsomething else. Or maybe shouldn\u2019t dedicate to this 100%. She said
\nno. She believed in me, she supported me, she supported this dream
\nof mine to be in the UFC.\u201d<\/p>\n

Fernando suffered a decision loss against Cesar
\nAlmeida<\/a> at DWCS in 2023, which was followed by another defeat
\nin the
\nLegacy Fighting Alliance<\/a>. He then rebounded with four
\nconsecutive wins that saw him win and defend the LFA light
\nheavyweight title twice to earn another shot at the UFC.<\/p>\n
