Prates was in attendance at Xfinity Mobile Arena in Philadelphia as
\nMakhachev defeated Ian Garry<\/a> by
\nunanimous decision to retain the
\nUltimate Fighting Championship<\/a> welterweight title in the
\nUFC
\n330<\/a> main event. The Brazilian is certain he\u2019ll knock out the
\nRussian champ when they lock horns.<\/p>\n

Carlos Prates vows to knock out UFC welterweight champion Islam
\nMakhachev<\/h2>\n

Makhachev was pushed to the limit by Garry and needed a dominant
\nfinal round to seal the decision win. However, many of his
\ntakedowns and submission attempts were shut down by the challenger.
\nThis marks Makhachev\u2019s second decision win in as many welterweight
\nbouts after finishing most of his challengers at lightweight.<\/p>\n

After the event, Prates made a bold claim, vowing to put the
\nDagestani pound-for-pound king to sleep.<\/p>\n

\u201cI will knock you out, bro,\u201d Prates said. \u201cI will knock you out. I
\nwill bring that belt to Brazil. The first welterweight champion
\nfrom Brazil.\u201d<\/p>\n

Prates also crossed paths with fellow top-ranked welterweight
\nMichael
\nMorales<\/a>, who weighed in as the backup for Makhachev vs. Garry,
\nat the event. \u201cThe Nightmare\u201d laid out his plans for the year
\nahead, looking to win the title in December and defend it against
\nMorales next summer.<\/p>\n

\u201cNo, I’m going to beat Islam and then we’ll fight,\u201d Prates told
\nMorales. \u201cI’m going to fight Islam in December and then I’m going
\nto fight [you] in April.\u201d<\/p>\n

Makhachev also identified Prates as the most deserving next
\nchallenger for the 170-pound title.<\/p>\n
