Henry
\nCejudo<\/a> believes Khabib
\nNurmagomedov<\/a> didn\u2019t do enough in his career to be considered
\none of the greatest of all time.<\/p>\n

While Nurmagomedov is widely considered among the greatest fighters
\nin mixed martial arts history, Cejudo argues that \u201cThe Eagle\u201d only
\ndefended the
\nUltimate Fighting Championship<\/a> lightweight title thrice.
\n\u201cTriple C\u201d believes its only title wins and defenses are to be
\nconsidered for making it to the GOAT list and the Russian\u2019s
\nretirement at 32 leaves many unanswered questions.<\/p>\n

Henry Cejudo argues Khabib Nurmagomedov’s three UFC title
\ndefenses aren’t enough for GOAT status<\/h2>\n

Nurmagomedov\u2019s teammate and successor, current pound-for-pound king
\nIslam
\nMakhachev<\/a>, defended his welterweight title against Ian Garry<\/a> at
\nUFC
\n330<\/a>. Cejudo believes Makhachev, in pursuit of his fourth title
\ndefense overall in the UFC, would have dropped significantly on the
\npound-for-pound list if he had lost against Garry.<\/p>\n

\u201cNo, Khabib is not there, bro,\u201d Cejudo said on the \u201cPound 4 Pound\u201d
\npodcast. \u201cThree title defenses? Like, that\u2019s not it, bro. That\u2019s
\nnot it. And I love Khabib Nurmagomedov. But that\u2019s not it. Title
\ndefenses are what people see, bro. You can have a padded record
\ntoo, with a bunch of wins. Not saying that he did. Let me put it to
\nyou this way. If Islam Makhachev was unable to secure that victory
\nover Ian Garry, not defend his belt, he really goes down the list,
\nbro. Because the most important thing, bro, is to win and then to
\ndefend.\u201d<\/p>\n

Nurmagomedov (29-0) won the UFC lightweight title against Al Iaquinta<\/a>
\nand defended it against Conor
\nMcGregor<\/a>, Dustin
\nPoirier<\/a> and Justin
\nGaethje<\/a> before retiring undefeated in 2020. Meanwhile, Cejudo
\n(16-6) won the UFC flyweight title against Demetrious
\nJohnson<\/a> and defended it against T.J.
\nDillashaw<\/a> before moving up. Cejudo then won the bantamweight
\ntitle against Marlon
\nMoraes<\/a> and defended it against Dominick
\nCruz<\/a> before abruptly retiring in 2020.<\/p>\n

Cejudo then came out of retirement after three years but never won
\nagain. The Olympic gold medalist dropped four in a row and finally
\nhung up his gloves following a loss to Payton
\nTalbott<\/a> this past December.<\/p>\n
