\nWeek 2<\/a> of the 10th Season of
\nDana White\u2019s Contender Series<\/a> exceeded expectations.<\/p>\n

Historic night in DWCS history as UFC signs six new fighters,
\nincluding one in defeat<\/h2>\n

Roman
\nPuga<\/a> (6-1) and Taner
\nTrembley<\/a> (7-1) kicked off the card in a featherweight clash. It
\nwas one of the most memorable fights in DWCS history, with both
\nfighters repeatedly rocking each other. While Puga walked away with
\na unanimous decision victory, Trembley\u2019s toughness was on full
\ndisplay.<\/p>\n

Dana White was walking out to award Puga an
\nUltimate Fighting Championship<\/a> contract when Sean Shelby
\ninsisted that Trembley be given one as well.<\/p>\n

\u201cIt takes two to make a great fight,\u201d White said while awarding
\nboth Puga and Trembley UFC contracts. \u201cAnd this fight was
\nabsolutely incredible. And because it was such a great fight, I got
\nto see so much well-roundedness and toughness from both guys. As
\nsoon as this fight was over, I said, \u2018Send both these guys to the
\nhospital right now.\u2019 So Puga — it\u2019s a no-brainer; I\u2019m absolutely
\nbringing him in. And as I\u2019m walking out here, Sean Shelby just
\ngrabbed me and said, \u2018I want Taner too.\u2019 So, both of these guys get
\na contract with the UFC.\u201d<\/p>\n

Alik
\nLorenz<\/a> (8-2) made his second Contender Series appearance in a
\nlight heavyweight tilt against Mahamed Aly<\/a>
\n(5-2). Lorenz floored Aly with an overhand right before finishing
\nhim with hammer-fists. While White thought it was an early
\nstoppage, he was impressed enough with the +320 underdog Lorenz\u2019s
\nmassive upset win.<\/p>\n

\u201cI did not agree with the stoppage; I thought the stoppage was a
\nbit early,\u201d White said. \u201cBut Lorenz was teeing off on him with big
\nshots. And by the time the fight started, he was a 4-1 dog. So,
\nwhen you come in as a 4-1 dog and you do what you did tonight,
\nLorenz, get over here, congratulations.\u201d<\/p>\n

Cristian
\nPerez<\/a> (15-2) took on Logan
\nPaxton<\/a> (10-2) in a lightweight matchup. Perez looked flawless
\nas he picked apart Paxton en route to a second-round stoppage win.
\nWhite not only gave Perez a contract but also an offer to compete
\nat
\nNoche UFC 4<\/a> in September.<\/p>\n

\u201cCristian Perez, incredible fight,\u201d White said. \u201cAgain, two very
\ntough, durable guys and Christian Perez could not have looked any
\nbetter than he did tonight. And I hope he wants to fight at UFC
\nNoche.\u201d<\/p>\n

Trent
\nMiller<\/a> (10-3) also made his sophomore Contender Series
\nappearance in a middleweight matchup against Douglas
\nHenrique Rodrigues<\/a> (7-2). A +270 underdog, Miller put Rodrigues
\nto sleep with a Von Flue choke in the second round to earn a UFC
\ncontract.<\/p>\n

\u201cTrent Miller, unfortunately, I\u2019m a very brutally honest guy,\u201d
\nWhite said. \u201cRodriguez was by far the better fighter in my opinion
\nand he was a 5-1 favorite. But you said, \u2018F*ck that sh*t.\u2019 Not only
\ndid you win the first round, but you came in and beat him in the
\nsecond round by Von Flue choke. Get over here, you\u2019re in the
\nUFC.\u201d<\/p>\n

Another Contender Series veteran earned the final contract of the
\nnight in the main event. Kaik Brito<\/a>
\n(20-6) returned in a welterweight matchup against Namo Fazil<\/a>
\n(10-2), three years after his first failed DWCS bid in 2023. While
\nFazil was riding a lot of momentum after his recent win at
\nMost Valuable Promotions<\/a>\u2019 inaugural MMA event, Brito put the
\nIraqi to sleep with a right hand in the third round to earn a UFC
\ncontract.<\/p>\n

\u201cAnd what could you not say about the main event? That was
\nincredible,\u201d White said. \u201cAnd the fact that Fazil has so many fans
\nin here going crazy. Brito, I love your style, the way you fight\u2026
\nCame out with a flying knee in the third round, tried to finish the
\nfight, and finished it in spectacular fashion. I cannot wait to see
\nyou fight in the UFC.\u201d<\/p>\n

DWCS has proved to be one of the most reliable sources of scouting
\nfuture UFC stars. White revealed that fighters from DWCS have made
\na combined $225.3 million in the UFC. There are also currently 420
\nactive DWCS graduates on the UFC roster.<\/p>\n
