His message was accompanied by<br \/>\nan image of the former <a rel=\"noopener nofollow noreferrer\" href=\"https:\/\/www.sherdog.com\/organizations\/Ultimate-Fighting-Championship-2\"><br \/>\nUltimate Fighting Championship<\/a> fighter alongside his<br \/>\nfamily.<\/p>\n<div id=\"adViAi\">\n<p>Advertisement<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<h2>Former UFC contender speaks publicly after pleading not guilty<br \/>\nto four felony charges in Nebraska<\/h2>\n<p>The incident involved an altercation with his wife that eventually<br \/>\nreceived police intervention. Smith has since returned home and<br \/>\nshared a family photo alongside his message.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cHappy to be home with my household full of \u2018whys,\u2019\u201d Smith wrote on<br \/>\nInstagram. \u201cI\u2019ll be able to tell my story someday soon. Until<br \/>\nthen\u2026you guys just keep making it up as you go. Character is<br \/>\nrevealed in chaos.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Smith faces one Class 2 felony charge, one count of terroristic<br \/>\nthreats and two first-degree false-imprisonment charges. He entered<br \/>\na not guilty plea earlier this month and is scheduled to return to<br \/>\ncourt Sept. 21.<\/p>\n<p>Prosecutors allege Smith threatened his wife during an altercation<br \/>\nat a Gretna, Nebraska, bar on July 26 and later attempted to strike<br \/>\nher with his vehicle. Authorities said she was not physically<br \/>\ninjured. Notably, Smith&#8217;s wife, Mikhala Renee Newman, has disputed<br \/>\nthe allegations and previously defended her husband publicly.<\/p>\n<p>Smith was also granted permission to travel to the Dominican<br \/>\nRepublic from Sept. 27 through Oct. 3 for a professional sporting<br \/>\nevent.
