\nNurmagomedov<\/a> is set to return to competition after a three-year
\nabsence.<\/p>\n

The former
\nUltimate Fighting Championship<\/a> welterweight will face David
\nZawada<\/a> in an 84-kilogram (185-pound) wrestling rematch under
\nthe AIGA banner in Istanbul, Turkey. The match is scheduled for ORA
\nArena on Sept. 20 as part of the Global Grappling Series 2026.<\/p>\n

Abubakar Nurmagomedov faces former UFC opponent David Zawada in
\nIstanbul<\/h2>\n

They previously met in the Octagon in November 2019 at
\nUFC Moscow<\/a>, where Zawada submitted Nurmagomedov via first-round
\ntriangle choke.<\/p>\n

Nurmagomedov went 2-2 during his UFC tenure. His most recent MMA
\nappearance came back in June 2023, when he dropped a split decision
\nto Elizeu
\nZaleski dos Santos<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Zawada, meanwhile, will look to repeat the result of their first
\nmeeting. The German veteran went 1-4 in the UFC, with his lone
\nvictory in the promotion coming against the Dagestani in Russia.
\nHe\u2019s also competed in Oktagon
\nMMA<\/a>, the
\nProfessional Fighters League<\/a> and
\nKSW<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Zawada\u2019s last MMA bout went down on Aug. 1, when he lost to
\nDavid
\nKozma<\/a> under the Oktagon banner.<\/p>\n
