The former
\nUltimate Fighting Championship<\/a> lightweight titleholder returns
\nto the Octagon after nearly two years against Alexander
\nHernandez<\/a> at UFC 332<\/a> on
\nOct. 3 at Delta Center in Salt Lake City. The Brazilian suffered a
\n90-second stoppage loss after injuring his left knee in his last
\nouting against Geoff Neal<\/a> in
\nOctober 2024.<\/p>\n

Rafael dos Anjos details the knee surgeries that threatened his
\nUFC career<\/h2>\n

In a recent interview, dos Anjos revealed that he has since
\nundergone three surgeries on his left knee. A doctor in Brazil
\ninitially stitched up his meniscus, which apparently was a big
\nmistake. He again tore his meniscus after a few months and
\nunderwent surgery in Austin, Texas, in the U.S.<\/p>\n

However, the American doctor allegedly left some stitches inside
\ndos Anjos\u2019 knee, which subsequently led to inflammation. The former
\nchamp then went under the knife for the third time earlier this
\nyear. He admits that the thought of hanging up his gloves has
\ncrossed his mind in the meantime. However, the 41-year-old notes
\nthat he hasn\u2019t been dominated in his losses and wants to give it
\none more shot.<\/p>\n

\u201cI had three surgeries back-to-back,\u201d dos Anjos told Ariel Helwani.
\n\u201cAfter the Geoff Neal<\/a>
\nfight, I had meniscus surgery, and the doctor in Brazil made a
\nmistake. He actually tried to stitch up my meniscus, which was a
\nterrible mistake. Four or five months after the surgery, my
\nmeniscus tore again, so I had to redo it. I had to have the
\nmeniscus removed, and the doctor in Austin, Texas, left a couple of
\nstitches inside my knee, believe it or not. It was causing
\ninflammation. I couldn\u2019t get full extension, and then I had surgery
\nfor the third time at the beginning of this year. For a second, I
\nthought, \u2018Man, this is it.\u2019 But looking at my results, I\u2019m coming
\nfrom losses, but I haven\u2019t been dominated. I want to give it a
\nchance. I still have four more fights on my contract.\u201d<\/p>\n

Now healthy, dos Anjos (32-17) will look to rebound from a
\nthree-fight skid against Hernandez (18-9), who is coming off a loss
\nagainst Rafa Garcia<\/a>
\nthat snapped a four-fight winning streak.<\/p>\n
