Aspen
\nLadd<\/a> believes the next year will be great for women\u2019s mixed
\nmartial arts.<\/p>\n

Ladd recently weighed in on the merger between the
\nProfessional Fighters League<\/a> and
\nMost Valuable Promotions<\/a>. She\u2019s slightly skeptical about the
\nmerger, considering things didn\u2019t play out as expected with PFL\u2019s
\nacquisition of Bellator<\/a>
\nin 2023, but remains optimistic.<\/p>\n

Aspen Ladd discussed MVP-PFL merger, critiques UFC\u2019s handling
\nof women\u2019s MMA<\/h2>\n

Ladd also notes that women\u2019s boxing under MVP and bare-knuckle
\nboxing under BKFC are rising in the meantime. With former Bellator
\npresident Scott Coker set to launch his own promotion next year,
\nthe former
\nUltimate Fighting Championship<\/a> athlete believes it\u2019ll be a
\nbright year ahead for women\u2019s MMA.<\/p>\n

\u201cBecause with the merger between, or supposed to be a merger,
\nright, with PFL and Bellator, you thought, oh, it’d be great,\u201d
\n
\nLadd told Sherdog’s Sean Sheehan<\/a>. \u201cThey’re absorbing the weight
\nclasses is going to be one big thing, but it wasn’t. That was a
\ndisaster. There’s the UFC not really putting much effort, time, or
\nattention into their women’s divisions, but during that same time
\nperiod, Bare Knuckle\u2019s taken off. Boxing has really taken off with
\nMVP. But I think that the MVP-PFL merger will be a huge thing. I
\nknow obviously Scott Coker’s coming back. So I think like next year
\nis gonna be great. The last couple haven’t been.\u201d<\/p>\n

Ladd also believes women\u2019s MMA in the UFC is suffering due to
\nmultiple factors. She claims the promotion hasn\u2019t been giving due
\nattention to women\u2019s MMA and is signing fighters when they\u2019re too
\ngreen, referencing Bella Mir<\/a>\u2019s
\nloss on
\nDana White\u2019s Contender Series<\/a>.<\/p>\n

\u201cAnd we’ll see what the UFC chooses to do,\u201d Ladd added. \u201cLike they
\nhad a couple hot pros, well, one hot prospect last night, and that
\ndidn’t go how they wanted. And they’ve brought in a couple girls
\ntoo, and I just think they’re bringing them in too early, or
\nthey’re building their records on people where they’re not really
\ngetting that experience before they get to the big show, and then
\nthey get to the big show and they’re potential stars are falling
\nflat, right? So, like, back in the day, you had a bunch of
\npromotions, like Invicta; Invicta was amazing. That’s where I did
\nmy first five fights, where you’re fighting real competition before
\nyou get to the big stage, or the biggest stage, right? So, I think
\nit’s really suffering from not much care; there’s been a lack of
\nopportunity and then pushing young fighters a little too fast.\u201d<\/p>\n

Ladd (12-5) fought in the UFC from 2017 to 2022 before signing with
\nthe PFL. She switched to Bellator for one fight after PFL dropped
\nthe women\u2019s featherweight division in 2024. The American has since
\nshifted focus to bare-knuckle boxing, where she scored a
\nfirst-round knockout in her debut last November.<\/p>\n

Ladd is now scheduled to fight Bianca
\nDaimoni<\/a> in a bare-knuckle boxing bout under the BKB banner on
\nAug. 29 in Miami.<\/p>\n
