\nUriel<\/a> believes he made a mistake by not using his jiu-jitsu in
\nhis first
\nDana White\u2019s Contender Series<\/a> appearance last year.<\/p>\n

Uriel (8-2) made his second DWCS appearance on Aug. 25 in a
\nheavyweight matchup against Mario
\nPiazzon<\/a> in
\nWeek 3<\/a> of Season 10. Uriel made Piazzon tap to a standing
\nguillotine in 50 seconds to earn an
\nUltimate Fighting Championship<\/a> contract.<\/p>\n

Guilherme Uriel explains the jiu-jitsu adjustment that helped
\nearn his UFC contract<\/h2>\n

Uriel had previously suffered a knockout loss against Josh Hokit<\/a>
\nin his first DWCS opportunity last year. He believes he shouldn\u2019t
\nhave abandoned his jiu-jitsu against Hokit. Uriel knew that
\nPiazzon, being a product of the
\nGalpao Da Luta<\/a> gym, would inevitably grapple and hence worked
\non his takedown defense and fence work ahead of their DWCS
\nbout.<\/p>\n

\u201cOne of the things from last time, it was my sin not to use my
\njiu-jitsu,\u201d Uriel said in his post-fight interview. \u201cAnd with all
\ndue respect to Galpao Da Luta, that’s a great gym. We know they’re
\ntough people, but we trained all that, all the time. We knew that
\njiu-jitsu was going to happen, and we, all the takedown defenses,
\njust make sure that everything was against the fence. And when that
\nneck was there, I said, \u2018I’m taking that home. I’m not going to let
\nthat go.\u2019\u201d<\/p>\n

Uriel has finished all eight of his career wins in the first
\nround.<\/p>\n
