\nUltimate Fighting Championship<\/a> lightweight titleholder recently
\nopened up about his last win and the respect he has earned in the
\nsport. Gaethje is content with his career, irrespective of what
\nhappens in the future.<\/p>\n

Justin Gaethje explains why losing to Max Holloway made his
\nIlia Topuria win more meaningful<\/h2>\n

Gaethje emerged victorious in his third attempt at undisputed UFC
\ngold at
\nUFC Freedom 250<\/a>, where he pulled off a major upset to finish
\nIlia
\nTopuria<\/a> and claim the lightweight title. He\u2019s now satisfied
\nwith what he\u2019s accomplished.<\/p>\n

\u201cI do feel like I have fulfilled my legacy,\u201d Gaethje said in a
\nrecent interview.<\/p>\n

Gaethje pointed to the respect he has earned from fans as well as
\nthe way he has conducted himself throughout his career, in victory
\nand defeat. “The Highlight” credited losing the BMF title to
\nMax
\nHolloway<\/a> as a key moment in his career, especially considering
\nHolloway was finished by Topuria soon after the BMF title bout.<\/p>\n

\u201cI think that Max Holloway was a huge building block to the person
\nand the legacy that I built,\u201d Gaethje added. \u201cWithout that, this
\nwin wouldn’t have been that special, especially with Ilia beating
\nhim, knocking him out and me going in there and finding success.
