\nmiddleweight in the
\nUltimate Fighting Championship<\/a> ahead of his Octagon return
\nagainst Nursulton
\nRuziboev<\/a> at
\nUFC Paris<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Michael Page explains why UFC welterweight title-shot tactics
\npushed him toward middleweight<\/h2>\n

Page is 4-1 in the UFC, with his lone defeat in the promotion
\ncoming against the last challenger for the 170-pound title,
\nIan
\nGarry<\/a>. However, odd bookings followed the loss to Garry, with
\nthe Englishman taking on middleweights Sharabutdin
\nMagomedov<\/a> and Jared
\nCannonier<\/a> before dropping back down to welterweight to fight
\nunranked compatriot Sam
\nPatterson<\/a> in a lackluster bout.<\/p>\n

Page claims top-ranked welterweights would rather wait around for a
\ntitle shot than fight him, prompting the move back up to 185
\npounds.<\/p>\n

\u201cEveryone at welterweight is, I’m trying to be polite here,\u201d Page
\nsaid in a recent interview. \u201cI feel like there’s too many people
\nwasting time at welterweight at the moment. Too many people with
\nentitlement issues\u2026 They believe that they should be the next in
\nline. And so, they’re going to wait and this and that. I don’t have
\nthe patience for that.\u201d<\/p>\n

Page acknowledged that winning a championship remains the ultimate
\nobjective, but doesn’t believe fighters should be so calculated
\nabout which matchups to accept.<\/p>\n

\u201cEveryone’s goal is the belt, but there’s no need to be this
\ntactical about it,\u201d Page said. \u201cAnd there’s like seven people being
\ntactical about it. It’s annoying. So, I just said, I’ll go the
\ntougher route and just move up a weight.\u201d<\/p>\n
