Robert

Whittaker has plenty of respect for Michael

Page, but admits he has trouble watching the Englishman

fight.

Page picked up another unanimous decision win in the final bout of

his

Ultimate Fighting Championship contract. He beat Nursulton

Ruziboev in a middleweight bout at

UFC Paris, but was subsequently removed from the rankings and

While Whittaker commends Page’s skills, he finds it hard to watch

the former Bellator

standout fight.

Robert Whittaker explains why Michael Page’s UFC fighting style

is difficult to watch live

Whittaker discussed Page’s latest win on the “MMArcade Podcast.”

The former UFC champ praised the Brit’s ability while explaining

why he sometimes prefers to watch his fights back later rather than

tune in live. “I’m going to be honest with you, no,” Whittaker said. “No, I

can’t, because I didn’t even want to watch it, and I have nothing

but respect for MVP. His ability to do what he does at his age is

crazy. It’s like he’s dancing in there. He’s so fast and

fluid.”

Whittaker believes Page may be the best point-fighter in the UFC,

but that approach can make his bouts difficult to sit through.

“I reckon there isn’t a single person that can beat MVP over

point-sparring in the UFC. He’s so good at it,” Whittaker added. “I

feel like it’s almost like he has a live feed of the judges’

scorecards, like, in real time. As soon as it starts to drop, he

just does a little bit more and it goes back up. He just does

enough.”

Whittaker understands why Page doesn’t take too many risks, which

is what makes him a tricky matchup.

“He could go out next fight, listen to our comments, and go out

there and just start throwing hands, get starched, cut, and that’s

it,” Whittaker said. “He definitely is a puzzle for a lot of

fighters. He’s not fun to fight for anyone.”
