Van caught the then-champ\u2019s kick and forced<br \/>\nhim backwards, forcing the latter to use his arm as a frame as he<br \/>\ncrashed into the canvas, causing the injury. The anticlimactic<br \/>\nending to the fight initially didn\u2019t sit well with Pantoja, who now<br \/>\nviews it differently.<\/p>\n<h2>Alexandre Pantoja explains how the Joshua Van injury loss<br \/>\nchanged his approach before UFC 331<\/h2>\n<p>Ahead of their rematch at <a rel=\"noopener nofollow noreferrer\" href=\"https:\/\/www.sherdog.com\/events\/UFC-331-Van-vs-Pantoja-113633\">UFC<br \/>\n331<\/a>, Pantoja said the injury ultimately changed his perspective<br \/>\nand gave him an opportunity to return to the championship mix with<br \/>\na different mindset.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI think after these 20 minutes, I&#8217;m already over it and focused on<br \/>\nwhat I have to do to get back,\u201d Pantoja said in an interview with<br \/>\n<a rel=\"noopener nofollow noreferrer\" href=\"https:\/\/stake.com\/blog\/alexandre-pantoja-ufc-331-interview\">Stake<\/a>. \u201cI am a very fast learner and I really<br \/>\nunderstood what I had to do. I feel like this was such a great gift<br \/>\nfrom God, to allow me to lose like that and come back to have this<br \/>\nopportunity to go again and get the championship back. I\u2019ve been<br \/>\ntraining much better now. I have a better diet, I try to sleep<br \/>\nbetter and I have good people working with me.
