\nGaethje<\/a> rematch, claiming the former won\u2019t enter the Octagon as
\nthe same fighter who won two-division gold.<\/p>\n

Topuria (17-1) was a massive favorite when he put his
\nUltimate Fighting Championship<\/a> lightweight title on the line
\nagainst Gaethje (28-5) at
\nUFC Freedom 250<\/a> this past June. The challenger handed Topuria
\nhis first professional loss, forcing a corner stoppage before the
\nfinal round.<\/p>\n

Eddie Alvarez warns against an immediate Ilia Topuria-Justin
\nGaethje UFC rematch<\/h2>\n

Amidst rumors linking Topuria to an immediate rematch with Gaethje,
\nformer UFC lightweight champ Alvarez believes running it back could
\ncost both Topuria and the UFC heavily. Alvarez claims Topuria
\ndoesn\u2019t deserve a rematch to begin with, but understands why the
\nUFC wants to put him in a big fight.<\/p>\n

However, Alvarez says an immediate rematch would be ill-advised on
\nTopuria\u2019s part, considering Gaethje and his team have already
\nextensively broken down his style, coupled with the psychological
\nhurdle of overcoming what happened in their first meeting.<\/p>\n

\u201cIf someone beats the sh*t out of you, you don\u2019t get a rematch,\u201d
\nAlvarez told MMA Junkie. \u201cIt needs to be close. You have to at
\nleast fight another guy\u2026 I could see the UFC wanting to crown
\nTopuria. They want that whole market. He\u2019s a big deal; he makes a
\nlot of money for the company. But it could be a disaster for the
\nUFC. Giving him that other shot, Justin and Trevor [Wittman] kind
\nof got his number. He\u2019s not just gonna go in and forget about what
\njust happened. His brain\u2019s still gonna suffer from PTSD where he\u2019s
\nnot gonna be able to go. He\u2019s not gonna be the same Ilia Topuria
\nthat he was before Justin beat the sh*t out of him.\u201d<\/p>\n
