Islam
\nMakhachev<\/a> and Jon Jones<\/a> are
\ngoing back and forth online.<\/p>\n

Makhachev recently discredited Jones\u2019 title run in the
\nUltimate Fighting Championship<\/a> because of repeated drug-testing
\nviolations. Jones fired back at Makhachev, claiming the UFC\u2019s
\ndrug-testing partners at the time had dismissed his failures as
\nunintentional and not performance-enhancing.<\/p>\n

Jon Jones invokes Islam Makhachev’s lone loss before the UFC
\npound-for-pound king targets Jones’ past<\/h2>\n

In addition to defending his run-ins with USADA, \u201cBones\u201d further
\nboasted his near-perfect record while reminding Makhachev of his
\nlone career loss against Adriano
\nMartins<\/a> in 2015. Jones listed several reasons why he considers
\nhis legacy superior to that of Makhachev, referencing praise he
\nonce received from Abdulmanap Nurmagomedov, before taking a shot at
\nDaniel
\nCormier<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Jones wrote on X:<\/p>\n

\u201cLet\u2019s start this week by dispelling rumors that have been spread
\nby people chasing me: 1. If you believe USADA for finding a
\npicogram in my system, then you must believe USADA when they say
\n\u201cIt was not found to be PERFORMANCE ENHANCING or INTENTIONAL.\u201d You
\ncan\u2019t have it both ways. 2. Last I checked, my hand got raised
\nevery time I was in the Octagon since any of you can remember. 3.
\nYour own coach said I was \u201ca gift from God.\u201d 4. Let\u2019s not forget
\nyou\u2019ve been KO\u2019d, flat-lined, went night night. 5. DC I kicked you
\nin the head LOL; keep telling yourself it was steroids. Whatever
\nyou need to tell yourselves to sleep better at night, go for it.
\nKeep chasing; it\u2019s lonely at the top, Islam, hopefully I\u2019ll see you
\nup here one day.\u201d<\/p>\n

Responding to Jones, Makhachev said that he doesn\u2019t intend to take
\naway from the former UFC double champ\u2019s achievements. However, the
\nRussian subtly reminded Jones of his multiple run-ins with the
\nlaw.<\/p>\n

\u201cJon, I\u2019m not trying to diminish your achievements in any way,\u201d
\nMakhachev responded. \u201cBut your whole life seems to be tied to
\nbreaking the rules one way or another, and somehow, you\u2019re never
\nthe one to be blamed.\u201d<\/p>\n

Jones hasn\u2019t fought since beating Stipe
\nMiocic<\/a>. He subsequently vacated the heavyweight title, but has
\nleft the door open to an Octagon return. Meanwhile, Makhachev is
\natop the sport at the moment, having recently recorded his first
\ntitle defense at welterweight and breaking Anderson
\nSilva<\/a>\u2019s record for most consecutive wins in UFC history.<\/p>\n
