\nDespaigne<\/a> believes experience outside the Octagon has prepared
\nhim for a second run in the
\nUltimate Fighting Championship<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Despaigne had finished all four of his pro fights within a combined
\ncage time of 5:13 when he made his UFC debut in 2024. The Olympic
\ntaekwondo bronze medalist lived up to his hype by finishing
\nJosh
\nParisian<\/a> in 18 seconds in his promotional debut. However,
\nDespaigne\u2019s flaws were exposed as he was outwrestled in consecutive
\nlosses against Waldo
\nCortes-Acosta<\/a> and Austen
\nLane<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Robelis Despaigne details his improved ground game before
\nfacing Tai Tuivasa at UFC 331<\/h2>\n

Despaigne (6-2) was released from the UFC in 2024 and went on to
\ncompete in Karate Combat, where he won the heavyweight title. \u201cThe
\nBad Boy\u201d returned to mixed martial arts competition this past May
\nwith a first-round knockout win over Junior dos
\nSantos<\/a> at
\nMost Valuable Promotions<\/a>\u2019 inaugural MMA event.<\/p>\n

Despaigne has now re-signed with the UFC and is scheduled to begin
\nhis second run against Tai Tuivasa<\/a>
\n(14-10) at UFC
\n331<\/a> on Sept. 19 in Los Angeles. He feels more confident in his
\nsecond UFC run after gaining experience outside the Octagon. The
\nCuban also believes he has significantly developed his ground game
\nsince his first UFC stint. Despaigne still has the lofty goal of
\nbecoming a UFC champion.<\/p>\n

\u201cI am happy to be back and thankful to the UFC for giving me the
\nopportunity to make my return,\u201d Despaigne said in a recent
\ninterview. \u201cI gained about a year of experience outside of the UFC.
\nAnd now that I\u2019m returning, I have much more confidence in myself.
\nThe main difference is that I\u2019ve got a lot of experience and I\u2019ve
\nworked on my ground game. I feel as if it\u2019s a welcome party and I\u2019m
\ngonna give it my all to get the victory\u2026 As always, I\u2019m highly
\nambitious and my goal is to get the UFC belt.\u201d<\/p>\n
