Demetrious
\nJohnson<\/a> questions whether Tom
\nAspinall<\/a> will ever return to action in the
\nUltimate Fighting Championship<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Aspinall recently announced that he\u2019s vacating the UFC heavyweight
\ntitle after ongoing complications from his eye injuries prevented
\nhim from receiving medical clearance to fight. The British
\nheavyweight was hoping to return against Ciryl Gane<\/a>
\nin a rematch and title unification bout, but an accident during
\nsparring caused further damage to his right eye. Now, Johnson
\nbelieves there\u2019s a real possibility he never fights again.<\/p>\n

Demetrious Johnson explains why Tom Aspinall\u2019s eye injury makes
\nhim doubt a UFC return<\/h2>\n

Johnson addressed Aspinall’s situation on his YouTube channel and
\nsaid the severity of the injuries makes a comeback difficult to
\nenvision.<\/p>\n

\u201cI sent Tom Aspinall a message today and I said, \u2018Dude, I\u2019m sending
\ngood vibes, I\u2019m hoping your eye gets healed,\u2019\u201d Johnson said. \u201cWe
\ndon\u2019t know if we\u2019ll ever see Tom Aspinall again inside the UFC
\nOctagon. Deep down in my gut, I would say no.\u201d<\/p>\n

The UFC Hall of Famer explained that he believes the risks
\nsurrounding Aspinall’s eye could make a return too dangerous.<\/p>\n

\u201cI wouldn\u2019t risk the opportunity of me losing my vision and not
\nbeing able to see my children,\u201d Johnson added. \u201cI would be shocked
\nif Tom Aspinall fights again. Just because when it comes to
\nfighting and training, that eye is always gonna be compromised. Is
\nhe willing to take that risk? I wouldn\u2019t take that risk.\u201d<\/p>\n

Johnson also expressed concern about Aspinall\u2019s eye remaining an
\nissue for the rest of his life.<\/p>\n

\u201cThis is something he\u2019s gonna be battling for the rest of his
\nlife,\u201d Johnson said. \u201cHe could potentially lose his eye.\u201d<\/p>\n

Aspinall, however, has vowed to return to fighting once he\u2019s
\nmedically cleared.<\/p>\n
