Nine months after suffering a serious cervical spine injury that
\nforced her to withdraw from the UFC 324 main event against Amanda
\nNunes<\/a> and undergo emergency surgery, Kayla
\nHarrison<\/a> is back in training for the highly anticipated
\nmatchup.<\/p>\n

\u201cHer injury was very serious. She had to undergo surgery and spent
\nseveral months unable to train, but she made a great recovery and,
\nthree weeks ago, returned to full training for the fight, which is
\nexpected to take place Nov. 14 in New York,\u201d
\nAmerican Top Team<\/a> muay thai coach Anderson Franca told
\nSherdog.<\/p>\n

Kayla Harrison resumes full training nine months after cervical

The two-time Olympic judo gold medalist and UFC women\u2019s
\nbantamweight champion will face Nunes, the former two-division UFC
\nchampion widely regarded as the greatest women\u2019s mixed martial
\nartist of all time.<\/p>\n

Interestingly, Franca was also one of the key coaches in Nunes\u2019
\ncamp for her 2018 fight against Cris
\nCyborg<\/a>.<\/p>\n

\u201cAmanda was considered the underdog against Cyborg, and we trained
\na lot for that fight. I would say that victory was the
\nsecond-biggest professional thrill of my career, after Edson
\nBarboza<\/a>\u2019s retirement. But we are professionals. Now I\u2019ll be on
\nthe other side, God willing, helping Kayla beat her,\u201d Franca
\nsaid.<\/p>\n

Franca also praised Harrison\u2019s determination and framed the matchup
\nas a battle for more than a championship.<\/p>\n

\u201cKayla is an Olympic champion driven by challenges. She wants to be
\nknown as the greatest of all time, and to achieve that she knows
\nshe has to beat Amanda, who is considered the GOAT today. So this
\nis about more than the belt. It\u2019s a fight for legacy, and it will
\nbe decided by the smallest details. Whoever makes fewer mistakes
