Joshua
\nVan<\/a> further solidified his status as the undisputed
\nUltimate Fighting Championship<\/a> flyweight king at UFC
\n331<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Van retained his title with a unanimous decision over former
\nchampion Alexandre
\nPantoja<\/a> in the UFC 331 main event at Crypto.com Arena in Los
\nAngeles. The judges scored the bout 49-46, 49-47 and 50-45 for Van,
\nwho had nothing but respect for his Brazilian counterpart after
\ntheir clash.<\/p>\n

Joshua Van defeats Alexandre Pantoja by unanimous decision at
\nUFC 331<\/h2>\n

Their first fight ended in anticlimactic fashion last year, with
\nVan winning the title after an arm injury to Pantoja forced a
\nreferee stoppage early in the first round. The former then defended
\nhis title against Tatsuro
\nTaira<\/a>, but questions remained over whether he\u2019s still the best
\n125-pounder while Pantoja recovered from his injury.<\/p>\n

Van silenced the doubters with his performance at UFC 331, landing
\nsignificant damage while escaping most grappling entanglements. He
\neven attempted a submission of his own, but the former champ
\nmanaged to get out of it.<\/p>\n

\u201cA lot of people say that was an accident win the first time,\u201d Van
\nsaid in his post-fight interview with Joe Rogan. \u201cNow, doubt me
\nnow. Shout out to Pantoja. Nothing but respect for me. He’s a tough
\nman. He’s hard to finish. I did my submission, but I don’t know how
\nthe hell he got out of that. I usually, with that move, I get
\neverybody in the gym, but I don’t know how the hell he got out of
\nthat.\u201d<\/p>\n

The duo won Fight of the Night honors for their five-round war.<\/p>\n
