Ciryl
\nGane<\/a> recently went off on Tom
\nAspinall<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Gane challenged Aspinall for the
\nUltimate Fighting Championship<\/a> heavyweight title in October
\nlast year. The fight ended in an unfortunate no-contest after a
\ndouble-eye poke from Gane left Aspinall unable to continue. The
\nFrenchman has now slammed his English counterpart, labeling him
\n\u201cmentally fragile.\u201d<\/p>\n

Ciryl Gane criticizes Tom Aspinall\u2019s response to their
\ncontroversial UFC no-contest<\/h2>\n

Gane believes Aspinall had every right to stop fighting after
\ngetting poked in the eye. However, \u201cBon Gamin\u201d says it wasn\u2019t wise
\nof the Brit to keep whining about it publicly after the fight. He
\nalso claims that he kept fighting despite having compromised vision
\nafter suffering an eye poke in his stoppage win over Derrick
\nLewis<\/a> in 2021.<\/p>\n

\u201cTom Aspinall was seen as a monster really, like a freak of nature,
\nbut when you look at the numbers, it\u2019s a different story, you
\nknow?\u201d Gane said on the \u201cZack En Roue Libre\u201d podcast. \u201cThere are a
\nlot of things like that where, even mentally, we knew he was a
\nlittle mentally fragile; we\u2019d picked up on it with him. The way he
\ncelebrated after fights, his body language, etc. How he
\ncommunicated and so on; we suspected he was a little fragile. And
\nin the end, sure enough, everything that happened after our fight
\nconfirms that the guy complains quite a bit. Brother, you got poked
\nin the eye; you have the right to stop. That\u2019s your right. Nobody
\nknows how you experience that pain. But you don\u2019t need to do
\neverything you did in terms of public statements because it worked
\nagainst him in the end. It happened to me before, actually, when I
\nfought Derrick Lewis and won the belt. He poked me in the eye and
\nmy vision hadn\u2019t recovered, but I kept fighting. I didn\u2019t complain
\nabout it.\u201d<\/p>\n

Aspinall has remained sidelined with eye-related complications
\nsince the bout. Gane won the interim heavyweight title by knocking
\nout Alex
\nPereira<\/a> at
\nUFC Freedom 250<\/a> this past June to set up a rematch and title
\nunification bout, but Aspinall recently vacated the title.<\/p>\n

Gane has now been promoted to undisputed champion and is scheduled
\nto defend his title against the undefeated Josh Hokit<\/a>
\nat UFC
\n334<\/a> on Nov. 14 at Madison Square Garden in New York City.<\/p>\n
