\nVolkov<\/a> after the Russian mocked the recently announced
\nUltimate Fighting Championship<\/a> heavyweight title bout.<\/p>\n

Hokit is set to face Ciryl Gane<\/a>
\nfor the heavyweight championship at UFC
\n334<\/a> after Tom
\nAspinall<\/a> vacated the title. Volkov poked fun at the UFC\u2019s
\ndecision to hand Hokit a title shot, sarcastically suggesting the
\npromotion made a special exception for the unbeaten contender.<\/p>\n

Josh Hokit attacks Alexander Volkov\u2019s UFC record after
\ncriticism of his Ciryl Gane title fight<\/h2>\n

Volkov sarcastically commended the UFC for giving Hokit a title
\nshot during his appearance on \u201cThe Ariel Helwani Show,\u201d claiming
\nthe American\u2019s \u201cserious mental condition\u201d warrants a shot at
\ngold.<\/p>\n

\u201cI want to be honest with you. I\u2019m very supportive of this fight
\nfrom the UFC,\u201d Volkov told Ariel Helwani. \u201cI have a lot of reasons
\nthat this fight should happen because Josh Hokit, from what I know
\nabout him, is clearly dealing with some mental illness. So, it\u2019s
\nvery admirable for UFC to put a guy with a serious mental condition
\nin a title shot. Of course, he should go in front of me. Guys with
\nthis kind of reason should fight first. It\u2019s an incredibly
\ninspiring story of a guy with mental illness who can fight for the
\nheavyweight title. I very much support UFC with that. It\u2019s a noble
\nthing for UFC to do for him with his mental problem.\u201d<\/p>\n

Hokit responded by taking aim at Volkov\u2019s recent results and
\nfighting style, questioning whether he deserves a spot on the
\nroster.<\/p>\n

\u201cMaybe he should catch my \u2018mental illness\u2019 since he lost to the
\nlast 2 guys I beat,\u201d Hokit wrote on X. \u201cHas anyone ever watched a
\nVolkov fight all the way through? He\u2019s lucky to still be on the
\nroster. Should have cut his boring a-s when they cut [Jailton]\nAlmeida.\u201d<\/p>\n
