\nHernandez<\/a> wants to be a full-time fighter while continuing his
\ncareer in law enforcement.<\/p>\n

Hernandez (9-0) is a deputy sheriff with the Miami-Dade Sheriff\u2019s
\nOffice and is also part of its Priority Response Team. He made his
\n
\nUltimate Fighting Championship<\/a> debut at
\nUFC Vegas 121<\/a> on two days\u2019 notice against Sedriques
\nDumas<\/a>. \u201cThe Stache\u201d needed less than a minute to force Dumas to
\ntap to a standing guillotine choke, earning a Performance of the
\nNight bonus.<\/p>\n

Luis Hernandez says his Miami-Dade law enforcement career still
\npays more than fighting in the UFC<\/h2>\n

Hernandez has revealed that he still earns more from law
\nenforcement than he does from the UFC, even when factoring in his
\n$100,000 bonus. He praised the support he receives from his agency
\nand said he has no plans to leave law enforcement while competing
\nin the UFC.<\/p>\n

\u201c[Still making more in] Law enforcement\u2026 The support that I get
\nfrom my agency is amazing,\u201d Hernandez told Ariel Helwani. \u201cYou
\ndon\u2019t have to be a fighter, but you could actually have a life
\noutside of work and the agency supports that. I have a great
\nsheriff. I spoke with her, and she asked, \u2018Are you thinking about
\nleaving?\u2019 I said, \u2018No, I never want to leave. I want to do both.\u2019 I
\nhave great support.\u201d<\/p>\n

The
\nDana White\u2019s Contender Series<\/a> graduate isn\u2019t the first UFC
\nfighter to maintain another career while competing in the
\npromotion. Former heavyweight champion Stipe
\nMiocic<\/a> served as a paramedic and firefighter during his UFC
\ncareer.<\/p>\n

Luis Hernandez says he still makes more in
\nlaw enforcement than he does fighting, even with his bonus, and has
\nno plans to leave his job:<\/p>\n
