\nformer world champion Heather
\nHardy<\/a> over her 2023 rematch with Amanda
\nSerrano<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Hardy is seeking $10 million in damages from MVP, alleging in her
\ncomplaint that the promotion moved forward with the bout despite
\nconcerns about the risks involved. Hardy alleges that she suffered
\npermanent neurological damage from the fight, which took place in
\nAugust 2023 on the Jake
\nPaul<\/a>–Nate Diaz<\/a>
\ncard.<\/p>\n

Most Valuable Promotions cites Hardy’s medical clearance and
\ncommission oversight in response to the lawsuit<\/h2>\n

According to Hardy\u2019s complaint, the fight presented an
\n\u201cextraordinary and foreseeable risk of serious neurological harm.\u201d
\nShe also alleges that the bout contributed to lasting issues,
\nincluding traumatic brain injury, memory loss and double
\nvision.<\/p>\n

MVP disputed the allegations in a statement issued in response to
\nthe lawsuit, emphasizing Hardy\u2019s medical clearance and the
\ncommission\u2019s oversight of the contest.<\/p>\n

\u201cMVP has great respect for Heather Hardy. We recognize the
\ndifficulty of her circumstances and extend our sincere sympathy and
\nhope that she receives the care and support she deserves,\u201d MVP
\nresponded (via ESPN<\/a>). \u201cHeather\u2019s participation on our Aug. 5,
\n2023, card was arranged through her promoter, Lou DiBella, who
\ncontracted for the fight, and Heather publicly expressed her
\ngratitude for the opportunity both before and after the fight.\u201d<\/p>\n

\nmedically cleared to compete by the athletic commission overseeing
\nthe event, and the bout proceeded under the commission\u2019s authority
