\nAldo<\/a> has offered some advice and encouragement to former rival
\nConor
\nMcGregor<\/a>.<\/p>\n

McGregor injured his knee in the opening seconds of his rematch
\nagainst Max
\nHolloway<\/a> in July, which marked the end of a five-year Octagon
\nhiatus. He damaged his ACL and meniscus and underwent surgery in
\nAugust. The Irishman is targeting a return in the summer of 2027
\nfor what would be the final bout of his
\nUltimate Fighting Championship<\/a> contract.<\/p>\n

Not only does Aldo wish McGregor the best, but he also believes the
\nformer two-division champion can shake things up at lightweight and
\npotentially reclaim UFC gold.<\/p>\n

Jose Aldo believes Conor McGregor can re-enter the UFC
\nlightweight title picture at 155<\/h2>\n

Aldo and McGregor shared a contentious relationship in the lead-up
\nto their 2015 title bout, which McGregor won by knockout in just 13
\nseconds, ending Aldo\u2019s 18-fight, nearly decade-long winning streak.
\nMcGregor frequently mocked and belittled Aldo as part of his
\npre-fight psychological warfare.<\/p>\n

Nevertheless, Aldo no longer holds any ill will toward McGregor and
\nwants him to return to the win column. He believes his former foe
\nshould consider returning to lightweight rather than competing at
\nwelterweight when he comes back.<\/p>\n

\u201cI always hope for the best, so I hope that tomorrow he\u2019s doing
\nwell physically and psychologically, too, and that he can return to
\nthe UFC and have great fights again,\u201d Aldo told MMA Fighting<\/a>. \u201cI think first he needs to go
\nthrough some dietary re-education to see if he can get back down
\nand be lighter again. I think, in my opinion, he has the frame for
\n155, so it would be good.\u201d<\/p>\n

The Brazilian also believes McGregor could quickly work his way
\ninto title contention with a significant victory.<\/p>\n

\u201cAnd I\u2019ll tell you this\u2026 Today, if Conor fights at 155 and beats a
\nname, the division is wide open again,\u201d Aldo added. \u201cTo me, the
\ndivision has kind of stalled there. Ilia [Topuria] moved up and
\nlost to [Justin] Gaethje, so it\u2019s a bit of a mess there and anyone
