Federal agents questioned Alexander
\nHernandez<\/a> after his fight against Michael
\nJohnson<\/a> fell through.<\/p>\n

Hernandez, who returns to action in the
\nUltimate Fighting Championship<\/a> at UFC
\n332<\/a> on Oct. 3, was scheduled to face Johnson at
\nUFC 324<\/a> in January. However, the fight was canceled at the last
\nminute amid suspicious betting-line movement.<\/p>\n

Alexander Hernandez recounts federal questioning after canceled
\nMichael Johnson fight<\/h2>\n

Hernandez opened as a sizable favorite, but money reportedly began
\npouring in on Johnson a day before the fight, shifting the odds in
\nhis favor. Hernandez said he was subsequently questioned by federal
\nagents about whether he was planning to throw the fight.<\/p>\n

Hernandez recently recalled the \u201cembarrassing\u201d episode. According
\nto Hernandez, the agents asked whether he had any incriminating
\napps, a question he initially did not understand. At their request,
\nHernandez said he downloaded the Signal messaging app again on his
\nphone.<\/p>\n

Hernandez said his Signal account contained a message from a bot
\nand another exchange in which he tried to procure a gram of
\nmarijuana in Brazil. While Hernandez acknowledged being embarrassed
\nby the amount of marijuana he was trying to obtain, he dismissed
\nthe notion that the exchange indicated anything related to the
\ncanceled fight. Hernandez said the questioning lasted nearly an
\nhour before he was allowed to leave.<\/p>\n

\u201cThey\u2019re like, \u2018Do you have any incriminating apps?\u2019 I\u2019m like, \u2018I
\ndon\u2019t even know what an incriminating app would look like.\u2019 They
\nsay, \u2018Signal,\u2019 and I\u2019m like, \u2018What\u2019s Signal?\u2019… I open it up, and
\none was a bot message saying hey or something, and the other was me
\nbuying like a gram of weed in Brazil,\u201d Hernandez told Ariel
\nHelwani. \u201cI was like, \u2018OK, that\u2019s kind of embarrassing. That’s a
\np*ssy amount, I\u2019ll admit that, but it was certainly not insider
\ntrading, not throwing a fucking fight.\u2019 Embarrassing exchange,
\nsure. Federal charge, I\u2019d say not\u2026 I probably sat in there spinning
\nour wheels together for nearly an hour, I\u2019d imagine.\u201d<\/p>\n

Hernandez has since suffered a decision loss to Rafa Garcia<\/a>
\nin April, snapping a four-fight winning streak. He is now scheduled
\nto face former champion Rafael dos
\nAnjos<\/a> at UFC 332 on Saturday at Delta Center in Salt Lake
\nCity.<\/p>\n
