Oscar De La Hoya has explained why he didn\u2019t attend Ryan
\nGarcia<\/a>\u2019s victory over Conor Benn, drawing a response from
\nDana
\nWhite<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Garcia stopped Benn in the second round of their WBC welterweight
\ntitle bout on Sept. 12 at T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas. De La Hoya,
\nwho previously said he\u2019d attend the event, was notably absent on
\nfight night despite having a seat and VIP access.<\/p>\n

Dana White disputes Oscar De La Hoya\u2019s reason for skipping Ryan
\nGarcia vs. Conor Benn<\/h2>\n

Speaking to Fight Hub TV, De La Hoya said he chose not to attend
\nbecause he believed he would be embarrassed at the event, which was
\nco-promoted by White\u2019s Zuffa Boxing and De La Hoya\u2019s Golden Boy
\nPromotions.<\/p>\n

\u201cI wasn\u2019t going to show up to be embarrassed,\u201d De La Hoya told
\nFight Hub TV. \u201cIt was a Zuffa f*cking event. A \u2018Zuffa event,\u2019 a
\n\u2018Turki event\u2019 [doing quotation marks with his hands]. I was not
\ngoing to show up and be embarrassed, because that\u2019s exactly what
\nthey were going to do to me. I was not going to do that. So, I made
\nthe wise decision to not go. It would have been embarrassing. It
\nwould have created distractions. It would have been a mess.\u201d<\/p>\n

White has since disputed De La Hoya\u2019s claims. Speaking after the
\nlatest episode of
\nDana White\u2019s Contender Series<\/a>, the
\nUltimate Fighting Championship<\/a> CEO said he wouldn\u2019t treat an
\nadversary in that fashion.<\/p>\n

\u201cI would never do that,\u201d White said after
\nWeek 9<\/a> of DWCS Season 10. \u201cListen, my dislike for Oscar De La
\nHoya is very well known. He knows it, I know it, and it\u2019s mutual.
\nBut I am the type of person who would call and say, \u2018Don\u2019t even try
\nand show up to this f*cking fight. You\u2019re not welcome.\u2019 I would
\nnever have somebody show up to an event and do that.\u201d<\/p>\n
