\nAllen<\/a> would warrant a shot at
\nUltimate Fighting Championship<\/a> gold or a matchup with a former
\ntitleholder.<\/p>\n

Duncan (15-2) is scheduled to headline
\nUFC Vegas 122<\/a> against Allen (27-7) on Saturday at Meta Apex in
\nLas Vegas. The Englishman has defeated Roman
\nDolidze<\/a> and Jared
\nCannonier<\/a> in his last two outings and hopes a victory over
\nAllen will earn him one of those opportunities.<\/p>\n

Christian Leroy Duncan targets former champion as next step
\nafter Brendan Allen<\/h2>\n

Duncan is 8-2 in the UFC and has won five straight fights. He
\nbelieves an impressive performance against Allen could propel him
\npast other middleweight contenders or put him one step closer to a
\ntitle shot.<\/p>\n

\u2018I don\u2019t see why not [a title shot next],\u201d Duncan told MMA
\nFighting. \u201cWe get a good performance this weekend, I don\u2019t see why
\nnot\u2026 Brendan Allen being Top 4, it puts us in that title contention
\nsection where we\u2019ve got Strickland and Imavov who are supposed to
\nbe fighting next. We\u2019ve got DDP amongst that mix of former
\nchampions. It will be great to then put my hat in at the top level.
\nThis year I fought Roman being a Top 15 fighter, Cannonier being a
\nTop 10 fighter and now Brendan Allen being a Top 5, so the natural
\nprogression from that would be a former champion.\u201d<\/p>\n

Middleweight champion Sean
\nStrickland<\/a> has said compensation remains an obstacle to
\nfinalizing the first title defense of his second reign, with
\nNassourdine
\nImavov<\/a> his expected challenger. Former champions Khamzat
\nChimaev<\/a> and Dricus Du
\nPlessis<\/a> are also seeking another fight with the 185-pound
\ntitleholder. Chimaev lost the belt to Strickland earlier this year,
\nwhile du Plessis holds two wins over the American.<\/p>\n
