\nSteveson<\/a>, suffered a shocking 12-second knockout loss to

\nSharaf<\/a> in one of the biggest upsets in
\nUltimate Fighting Championship<\/a> history at UFC
\n331<\/a> on Sept. 19. Covington subsequently blamed Jones for
\nSteveson\u2019s defeat, claiming the Olympic gold medalist needed to
\ndistance himself from Jones\u2019 \u201cbad energy.\u201d<\/p>\n

Jones has since fired back at Covington. \u201cBones\u201d pointed out that
\nalthough they were once college roommates, he has achieved far more
\nin his career than Covington. Jones also questioned Covington\u2019s
\ncriticism of his negative energy, claiming the former interim
\nwelterweight champion needs security when traveling in his own
\ncountry.<\/p>\n

Jones suggested that Covington\u2019s repeated criticism of him shows
\nthat \u201cChaos\u201d is obsessed with him.<\/p>\n

Covington has not competed in the UFC since his December 2024 loss

\nBuckley<\/a> and has since participated in wrestling matches,
\nprimarily under the Real American Freestyle banner. Meanwhile,
\nJones vacated the heavyweight championship in 2025 but has
\nrepeatedly teased a return to the Octagon.<\/p>\n
