\nUFC Vegas 122<\/a> on Saturday, according to teammate Belal
\nMuhammad<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Former UFC welterweight champion Muhammad said Allen had been
\ndealing with the infection since Tuesday and required antibiotics
\nbefore competing at Meta Apex in Las Vegas on Oct. 10.<\/p>\n

Belal Muhammad details Allen’s fight-week illness before Duncan
\nsubmission<\/h2>\n

Allen (28-7) submitted Duncan (15-3) with a fifth-round rear-naked
\nchoke for his fourth consecutive victory. Muhammad said Allen still
\nhad five days left on his course of antibiotics after the bout.<\/p>\n

\u201cWhat people don\u2019t know is Brendan was dealing with a staph
\ninfection since Tuesday of fight week,\u201d Muhammad wrote on X. \u201cHad
\nto get on antibiotics, still has 5 days left on them, and despite
\nall that adversity, went out there and got the finish. Never
\ncomplained, never made excuses, just found a way to win. That\u2019s the
\nheart of a champion. Proud of my brother.\u201d<\/p>\n

Allen earned a Performance of the Night bonus for the submission
\nand called out former champion Dricus du
\nPlessis<\/a> for his next bout.<\/p>\n
